Picked up one of these to try with my Hue lights. It is a single button, about half the size of a marshmallow and close to the same color. Nice smooth rubbery feeling finish to it. There is a magnet built into the back so you can attach it to any magnetic surface easily. The "wall plate" can be mounted with screws (not included) or the two attached sticky strips, and the button will stick to the center of that as well. As a final option it comes with a disc that can attach with included double-sided tape and the button will stick to that as well. There is a picture pamphlet that directs you how to set up the button with or WITHOUT a hub. The Amazon description is incorrect stating that a hub is required, but without a hub you can only pair it to a single hue bulb and functionality is limited. Pairing with a hub will allow you to customize functionality between a quick press, a longer press, or press-and-hold along with setting which lights or room you want to control with it. Pretty simple to set up and use, I like the fact that it is not fixed in place and can be easily moved around. It can also be easily lost, and looks like a good target for pets, or small children, who want something to chew on! You can have it in any color you like, as long as it is white, and I do not think you can easily paint the surface (would probably rub right off). For $20 it isn't bad, but for $5 more you can get the dimmer switch which has more functionality at a slightly larger size. Buyer beware: this company tried passing off Sengled lights as Hue lights. If I could have given this a zero star rating, I would.

Works fine, except it goes through a battery every other week... Do yourself a favor and find a different solution for a wireless switch. Mine also arrived with a dead battery.

    • Dead Battery On Arrival, then works poorly with fresh batteries

Purchased three, all three arrived with dead batteries. One appeared to be working the led blinked to initiate pairing but the battery strength was too weak for it to pair with my system, huge waste of time. After replacing a battery and getting one paired it doesn't work well. The button is magnetic and I hoped to place it on a metal door frame. When placed on metal the signal doesn't travel even when the top of the button has a sight line to my hub. In my experience it only works well when standing away from walls. As a single button you may be expecting to pair this with a single bulb but it can only be linked to a room or full system. Be ready for more work configuring your system to integrate a button that will very likely arrive dead or work infrequently. ... show more

All three required their batteries to be replaced within 24 hours of use. After three days all three had lost connection with my hue bridge, troubleshooting with Philips which ended in resetting my bridge back to default, after which I was able to reconnect them to the bridge. The downside of this is I lost all my smart home routines in homekit. Once again they worked for about three days before one by one they lost connection, I refuse to reset my bridge every three days so I will be returning the buttons. ... show more

UPDATE: Talked with Hue Support (they are only available between 8am-8pm EST, not optimized for West Coast nor consumer product support), the only thing they suggested is to contact Amazon and replace the defective item. How a thing like this from Phillips Hue could ever be dead on arrival? No quality control? Probably. Phillips - sorry this is BAD customer experience, yet another terrible experience with Hue. If Hue is supposed to be the prime brand in lighting, I'm disappointed. I really had high hopes, the button looks cooler to me than the SmartThings from Samsung... After this experience and response from support - ordered two more Samsung SmartThings buttons that never did let me down in the past (so we now use 5 in total). ... show more

I'm obsessed with Hue bulbs, and I'm terrified of the simple fact that the company could cease to exist, and my entire household full of lights would stop working properly. Even so, the functionality is just amazing-- the integration with our Google Home is great, and I use it all the time (when my hands are full). Where the Hue system really shines is when you sync it up to your TV. During the pandemic, having a personal "movie theater" goes a long way in keeping you happy while cooped up all the time, and the Hue system is a valuable addition to mine. My only gripe is how INSANELY expensive they are. They're simply not worth $50/bulb, and the only time of the year I will buy them is around Black Friday when they dip to about $30/bulb.
