13 years ago I bought this brand for my sweet son and he loved them more than any other bottle. The flow was perfect, it cleaned well and basically met every expectation I never knew I’d have. 13 years later I gave birth to a daughter that spent the first 19 days of her life in the NICU because I had gestational diabetes so she had dangerously low blood sugar, jaundice, breathing issues and would eat almost nothing on her own so she required a feeding tube that fed through her nose to her stomach and we couldn’t take her home until she figured out how to eat on her own. We were being told that she was developing nipple aversion and the bottle nipple we switched to (Nuk) did seem to get her to eat but took 20 minutes to eat 5mls so by that time we’d have to put it through her feeding tube because she was exhausted and we’d feel heartbroken at the thought of our daughter staying in the NICU any longer. Our endgame was deciding to learn how to place and handle her feeding tube so the nurses trained us and sent us home with supplies. We got home only to realize they’d sent us home only with the nipple our daughter hated. Luckily I had ordered these adorable pink infant bottles that I’d used so many years ago for my son so we figured, “why the hell not?!” and went for it. That was a Tuesday. Today is only Saturday and she is now finishing bottles on her own a couple times a day. She NEVER fights this bottle, it doesn’t take forever but also doesn’t flow too much and basically fill her mouth and cause her to choke. So this may be just a bottle to most but it’s kind of made our lives better. We may get to remove our daughters feeding tube in a few days when we were told not long ago that we may have to look at more permanent options because she just wasn’t getting it. I love these bottles in general, I used them with my firstborn and bought them all over again for my second. I think they're by far the easiest to clean with the fewest moving parts. That said, as I was putting my latest order in the dishwasher, I happened to notice that one of the nipples was marked a size 2, not a size 1 like the others. I just pulled it out and figured we'd mix and match because I don't have time to send them back and replace them before they're needed. My 2 month old doesn't need a faster flow and since I'm also nursing, I want to make sure I don't make bottles easy and end up with a lazy baby at the breast. ... show more

We really do like these bottles. They're easier to clean than the bottles that came with our spectra pump, and we like their design. Our baby is able to latch on in a way that mimics breast feeding, again much better than with the spectra bottles. There's only two things we don't like. One, there's a small area along the nipple that, if facing down when the baby is drinking, seems to allow milk to leak through. Once we realized this, we just make sure it's always facing up and there are no issues. The second downside is the groove around the side of the bottle. It's very easy for milk to get trapped there while feeding and so we have to flip the bottle upside down and allow all the remaining milk that was trapped to collect at the tip of the nipple and then try to finish. However, once the bottle comes out, our baby usually falls asleep and so that milk is wasted. We're only talking about a few milliliters, but still. ... show more

I purchased these a couple of months back but I just had my baby this past week and I am extremely disappointed. I used these same bottles with my two older children and I absolutely loved them so I had no second thoughts on ordering them this time as well. Once they arrived everything seemed fine; but upon washing them and using them for the first time a few days ago I have discovered that ALL of the nipples leak. I'm not sure what the issue is as I have inspected every single one and there don't seem to be any tears or small holes that could be causing the leaks. Because of this issue I have to use a bib every single time and it is also a waste of formula. ... show more

My son switches between breast and bottle/pumped milk. We’ve had problems with choking when he’s on the bottle, since he’s used to the breast. These bottles with the Newborn/first latch nipples fixed the choking problem! They do leak, though. It’s not a lot, but enough that you’ll need a bib or an outfit change after feeding. I bought this for my 4week old who is only formula fed. I got this hoping the flow was slower than the bottles I originally had.. they were a little bit slower at first but after a few washes it seemed to be a little faster. It still works for him perfectly tho! The nipple it self is also so much softer than other nipples which is awesome! I've read other reviews saying it leaks.. it literally only leaks if you don't tighten it good enough. & I found a trick for the air vent.. if you line it up just past where it should be, (towards the right) when you tighten it it'll most likely be in the correct spot. Or if it's lined up just hold it in place when tightening to close. Not sure if it helps a lot with gas, seeing as my little one is still pretty gassy but it could also be the formula. Other than that we've been using them for 2 weeks and we love em. This bottle comes with size 1 nipple (0+months) But for newborns I would recommend ordering the premie nipples to use for at least the first month or so, just to be sure there’s no choking. ... show more

Before my baby was born, I stocked up on all the “fancy” brand of bottles. The ones made from fancier materials, from niche brands, and ones that had all the fancy anti-gas pieces. When it came time for me to go back to work and for her to take several bottles away, I turned to a sample of the Philips Avent. Why? Because it was fewer pieces and easier to clean (my priorities has clearly shifted with a few months of mommying). She takes it just fine and doesn’t get gas.
