I just stuck it on my t.V and then ran the scan and I got three local channels and 3 that program old tv shows. For the cost this outshines basic cable. AND i haven't even worked with moving the atenna around to see what other channels i get. I Ditched basic cable TV about 6 months ago. And now I can get clear signals of channels. I bought this antenna with the idea of returning it. I carefully opened the package and remembered where parts went. I had purchased a smart TV and since I don't have cable, I knew I needed an indoor antenna. From Amazon, I got the first indoor antenna (about $35). Living in NYC, the antenna scanned for quite a few stations, but failed to pick local channels 7 (ABC) and 11 (CW). I moved the antenna all over the room with no results. I looked online and found these two stations were more difficult to pick up than the others. One site suggested getting old-fashioned rabbit ears. I ordered this one for HALF the price with the idea of returning it, since I didn't have a lot of confidence in it. At first, I was disappointed that the cord was only about 5 feet long. How could I move it around the room and also, there was no external power. Well...the antenna worked great. I purchased the Philips Amplified HD Antenna (Hover version) without high expectations, as I’ve tried at least 10 different antennas from Amazon, only to return them for not working as expected. I live northeast of Tallahassee, where, surprisingly, the reception in my home is weak. At first, I placed the antenna on top of the TV, as many reviewers suggested, but I only received 4 channels, which was frustrating. I was about to return it when I decided to experiment a little. I found an unused phone camera tripod my wife had purchased and mounted the antenna on top of it. It fit perfectly! I positioned the tripod behind the TV and began adjusting it in different directions, scanning for channels each time I moved it. From 4 channels, I increased to 14, though major networks like CBS, ABC, and FOX were still missing. Determined, I kept fine-tuning the antenna’s placement. After two hours of trial and error, I finally found the perfect spot and unlocked 40 channels, including all major networks! Additional Notes: ✔ The antenna works, but positioning is key—be patient and experiment with different angles. ✘ The included Amplified Signal Booster was useless—it made no difference, so I tossed it. ✔ A Philips LTE Filter (SDW1520/27) helped improve the signal slightly. If you’re struggling with reception, don’t give up too soon! Play around with the positioning, and you might be surprised at the results. ... show more

This was a good choice of all the antennas I considered. Well packaged; quality look and feel; easy to install with good directions. I attached to the top of my TV and the slim design makes it almost disappear. Plus it doesn't take up counter or table space. Scanning for channels was simple with plain directions. Quickly found 70 channels with clear reception. I understand location makes a difference, but I don't know what percentage that plays here. The TV is on the ground floor of a two-story, on flat terrain, and no tall buildings nearby. It's a few feet from a big patio window and not close to large obstructions or appliances. ... show more

looked at multiple antennas and settled on this one. purchased it to watch a football game. figured since it was powered it would work. it barely worked. definitely glitch, missed some key moments of the game. maybe I live too far in the woods

Worked well (granted I have a 12 mile line-of-sight to a mountain covered with tv transmitters). Big plus is that it clips to the top of the tv instead of needing a shelf or table with visible wires to it. Was disappointed that the ant was used, but all the pieces were there.

A low profile TV antenna with a booster. I am using this on a 42" TV on a rolling stand. I was looking for a low profile antenna that would mount to either the TV or the stand and roll around with the entire setup. Now, I can roll the stand around to other rooms or even outside. The antenna looks very cool and sits on top of the TV (hardly noticeable). The only reason for the loss of a star is the range. It shows a maximum range of 50 miles, but it has a hard time receiving anything past 22 to 24 miles. Some channels not at all. At least it is not grossly overstated like other antennas. Some are falsely stating up to 600+ miles using the small flat antennas, or some stating 1800+ miles. Ridiculous false marketing statements that should be banned from United States. Anyway, this antenna does the job intended, just a little short on reception that could be caused by interference from a number of factors in between the antenna and transmitting station. I will keep this antenna. If you are looking for a low profile, well designed antenna, this is a good candidate. ... show more
