    • Beautiful salt and pepper mills with poor packaging
First of all, let me start by saying that I had to order these twice because they arrived broken the first time. Normally, I wouldn’t review shipping and handling as part of a product review except in this case it truly is the manufacturer’s fault and not just Amazon’s fault. These literally come in a flimsy box with two pieces of plastic inside that barely hold anything in place. The first package I received was just shattered glass. Miraculously, the second box arrived undamaged. The salt and pepper mills themselves look classic and seem well made. Interestingly, they come prefilled with salt and pepper. I like that you can adjust the coarseness of the salt or pepper you are grinding and they are very easy to empty and refill. I give these a four out of five because the price here is better than elsewhere but given the extremely poor manufacturer packaging you will want to allow ample time to return and replace broken products. ... show more

I like the clear acrylic; it's easy to see how much salt and pepper you have and know when it needs a refill. The grind adjustment is very firm and holds in place. A previous, less expensive set I owned constantly needed tightening. This also will give a very fine grind for both salt and pepper; my former set seemed to give a coarse grind at best. Though I am using the caddy from my other set, this set doesn't "leak" much residue. The caddy is nice, but not as necessary as with the other set. ... show more

    • Not easy to use
The design of the grinders makes it difficult to use with arthritic hands. The pepper mill grinds pepper pretty well, but the salt grinder is difficult to turn and doesn’t grind salt easily. The salt, when it is ground, is so fine it’s difficult to see to know when you’ve gotten enough salt on your food. If I had it to do over again I’d look more closely at the design. ... show more

Used the set of these at a fancy restaurant in Kansas City and decided they would make a perfect gift for a friend who likes to cook. Did not disappoint. Be sure to do your research first because there are several different styles sizes, and grinders meant for different types of salts and spices. In the end, Peugeot was the clear choice for me. I'm loving my salt and pepper mills. Good quality for the price. This set sold for what each costs, separately, so it's a good deal. Without the 2 for 1 price, I would have only bought the pepper mill. The set looks cute sitting on a table. But more, importantly, the internal medal mechanisms should last for years to come. A nice middle of the road price for mills made by a company known for their expertise in grinders. The size is not too big and not to small, and the mills are easy to refill. ... show more

    • Not worth the hype
I was so excited to have these fancy grinders but am soo disappointed. The pepper isn’t coarse enough (in its adjustment) and I had to buy smaller salt to get it even to work and it barely grinds. So bummed.

I bought the set as a Christmas gift for my mother. I love the set; so much in fact, that I am trying resist the urge to collect. It was so Much more, just much more than I expected. If you are thinking about it, go for it.
