  • Breakfast is now fun! Good toy for dogs that aren't the brightest.
Size: Large (Pack of 1) Number of Items: 1
Update January 2019: I've had the size Large one for months now. My dog is still into it when I fill it up for him. Still kind of a pain to fill, but he'll stick with it until its empty (unlike some of his other toys, even ones he's figured out). I have since introduced my dog to my boyfriend's dog, and they basically spend all their time together, including meals. So I now got a size small (my dog is 60 pounds, his dog is 15). His dog also isn't the brightest (I call them Dumb and Dumber, or Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dumber, but trust me, it's loving. I adore them). But she is also motivated enough to use this toy. I have also since moved and gotten a dishwasher and haven't had any issue washing them occasionally in the dishwasher. I try to save that for every few washes though, and usually just rinse and set to dry between daily uses. My dog love this. He's way more engaged when he gets his breakfast kibble in this toy instead of in a bowl. He uses his nose to nudge it around the living room and eats the kibble as it dispenses. He's not the fastest eater, but this makes his breakfast last even longer, which is good. My dog also is not mentally gifted. In fact, he's kind of dumb. He's totally loveable, but he's just not so smart. And while he is food motivated, if he can't figure something out relatively easily, he'll give up, despite me trying to help him. I can't get really tricky puzzles, he'll just give up. What I like about this is that I could start it really easy, with the two halves fairly far apart so that each move produced a lot of kibble and he got rewarded quickly. Over time I closed the gap so that now I can screw it all the way shut leaving only two holes where the kibble can get out. He still loves it even though it takes him much longer than when we first started using this toy. He now has a very positive association with this toy and is always excited in the morning when I pull it out to use for breakfast. He's a power chewer so I don't leave it with him after breakfast (just in case) and so far it's holding up really well. I just wash by hand and dry in a dish rack each morning after breakfast. I don't have a dishwasher anyway, so no idea if it's dishwasher safe. ... show more

  • 15 years before replacing!
Size: Medium (Pack of 1) Number of Items: 1
This is by far the best treat/food dispensing toy I have ever seen. I bought one of these 15-ish years ago. This toy is so incredibly durable. Despite having multiple heavy chewers who destroy most toys in hours or days, our old one only became non-functional recently. It had chunks out of it and looked beat up for years, but it worked really well until one dog chewed the edges so much that the treats no longer stayed inside at all. Also, it seems to be one if the few treat toys on the market that doesn't require the use of proprietary treats on a special shape. We have put kibble, broken up pieces of bisquit treats, low-calorie mini treats, etc. in it, and all have worked well. As long as the bits are small enough to fit through the indents on the side without being so small as to fall out immediately, it works. I was so pleased that this toy is still on the market. It is more than worth every penny. ... show more

  • Fun, kind of hard to fill, useful for more than just kibble!
Size: Large (Pack of 1) Number of Items: 1
We always use meal dispensing toys for our two Border Collies. With that said, my dogs are NOT big chewers, and since they're used to these types of toys, they won't continue to chew them once they're empty. They're kind of the material/texture of a rubber scraper you'd use in the kitchen. Durable in the sense that they can roll them around, but you absolutely should not leave them with your dog unsupervised. We have Our Pets Smarter Interactive IQ Treat Ball Dog Toy, 3 Inches (Colors may vary), JW Pet Company Hol-ee Treat Ball for Dogs, and have been using PetSafe Busy Buddy Tug-A-Jug Meal Dispensing Dog Toy, Medium/Large to feed them dinner for the last couple years. The tug-a-jugs are my favorites because they're easy to fill. However, they're kind of hard to keep clean, as they tend to get gunked up with hair and slobber. I wanted to try these to see if they would be easier to keep clean, but igger than the Hol-ee roller and quieter and more controllable than the IQ Treat Ball. They certainly look like they will be easy to clean as they are essentially just rubber, so rinsing them off is easy. Our dogs picked up the dispensing method immediately because they're used to working for their dinners. I give it to them on the hardest setting--screwed totally tight so the arches on each side don't meet up, but are slightly past one another. This creates two half-circle holes on each side of the toy, rather than one larger round hole. We got the large size because I wanted to be able to feed them their entire dinner from the toy. We feed them each dog 1 cup of kibble from these toys. You can fill them about 1/2 way while they're unscrewed and opened, but then you have to screw the pieces together, hold one end (to prevent the food from falling out the opposite end) and pour kibble into the hole. It's kind of a pain to fill them. Fortunately I only do this once a day, so it's not a deal-breaker for me. I'm excited to try these with peanut butter or pumpkin. I think I'll try mixing the pups' dinner with a spoonful of pumpkin and throwing these boys in the freezer. That should definitely take some time and brain power! ... show more

  • Great as a treat dispensing toy, but can't recommend
Size: Large (Pack of 1) Number of Items: 1
CONS: I don't usually start with "cons", but these are important and I wouldn't have purchased had I known about them. -Made in China. It's not the quality of "Made in China" products that concerns me. It's the materials they use and the leaching of chemicals you so often hear about (especially when you watch Chinese news!). It doesn't matter to me what regulations they say they follow, China is notorious for finding loopholes and flat-out lying to cut costs when it comes to manufacturing. I just don't trust products made in China if it goes in the mouth or holds something that eventually goes in the mouth! -There is a very strong scent. It's not a bad smell (I think it's vanilla-ish?), but I've had this toy for 6 months now and the scent is still almost as strong as ever. I've washed it many times and it's had many months to air out. I actually liked the scent at first, but something that smells so strong for so long must be made of lots of chemicals that permeates all the rubber. That's the part that concerns me. PROS: There are many "pros". This treat dispensing toy combines all the best features of every other treat dispensing toy on the market...and I've tried a LOT. -The shape. It doesn't often roll into corners or under/behind furniture and get stuck. I have to rescue this toy far less than I do most ball-shaped dispensing toys, even those irregularly rounded ones. -Easy to clean! This was a big one. Lots of nice dispensers have teeny holes you can't really get into. This toy unscrews completely so you can wash each of the halves thoroughly -It's made of soft rubber. No more noisy treats tumbling around and the toy clattering when it rolls on hardwood or into the wall. -It's heavy and durable. It doesn't get knocked around too easily, but rocks back and forth nicely and can be flipped over when my dog bats it with his paw or noses it. -It fits lots of treats or kibble and the opening (when adjusted to the smallest size) is perfect for my dogs kibble size (Wellness brand kibble) -It's intuitive. Both of my dogs figured out how to work this toy pretty quickly. My older dog who is experienced with different types of dispensers took to it immediately. My foster had never tried a toy like this before and still figured it out rather quickly. Since they easily learned that batting at it and flipping it with their noses makes the treats fall out, neither of them had the need to chew it to try to break it open like they might with more difficult toys. -The level of difficulty can be adjusted depending on how tight you screw the halves together OVERALL: I liked this toy for my dogs at first. It does everything I wished a treat dispensing toy would do and I was happy to discover it; but being made in China is kind of a deal-breaker for me since my dog puts his mouth all over it and the treats tumble around in it. Had I known it was made in China, I wouldn't have purchased it. If you really don't care about that, then this is a great toy. ... show more

  • Hours of playtime!
Size: Small (Pack of 1) Number of Items: 1
We have two Border Aussies - one is 12 years old and the other one is three months old. We had a few treat dispensers the older one loved playing with, but the puppy wasn’t strong or big enough to handle yet. So, I purchased this toy in hopes of getting our puppy the treat dispensing experience - a little more her size. It’s very soft, chewable (yet chew proof), rubbery material, yet, it’s tough and durable. Well, you know what they say about the best laid plans… So, as it turns out, the older Aussie loves this toy. She is also the only one strong enough to bend it in such a manner to get the treats out. However, that does not deter the puppy one single bit. Our puppy never gives up! And I do mean, never!! They take turns chewing on it, and running with it. When one of them drops it for a second and gets distracted, the other one picks it up and takes off. It’s become a highly entertaining toy at our house. What I love about this toy is the versatility. Both senior dog and puppy absolutely love it. You can roll it, you can toss it, you can spin it. They play with anytime they get a chance. I’ve put treats inside, peanut butter, and most the time it’s just regular old dog food. I don’t think they care what I fill it with, as long as they are rewarded somehow for their determination. It is so small that sometimes it will get lodged beneath the piece of furniture or the couch, and I’ll have to go hunting for it to fill it for them. When they’re done playing with it, and I find it lying in a lonely corner. I pick it up and put it on the counter until the next time I notice they need a distraction. This keeps it interesting and fresh for them, and makes it easy for me to find to fill. It’s so affordable, and it’s been such a fun addition to doggy playtime at our house. I hope it works out just as well for you and your furry friend! ... show more

  • Quality Slow Feeder
Size: Large (Pack of 1) Number of Items: 1
My guy LOVES this, almost as much as I do. I fill with half of his kibble, plain Greek yogurt, pumpkin and freeze. Keeps him entertained for about an hour. I take it away from him after he’s gotten everything out, as he can be a bit of a destroyer, but overall, a major success!

  • Great, versatile toy. Keeps pups busy!
Size: Medium (Pack of 1) Number of Items: 1
Great toy. I have gotten two or three because they work so well. You can fit a nice garden variety of treats in there to keep your pup busy! I laugh when my beagle gets frustrated and starts biting it to throw up into the air. Funny stuff.

  • Nice food bowl toy - has a strong rubbery odor
Size: Small (Pack of 1) Number of Items: 1
Our 5 year old Morkie initially wanted nothing to do with this. After we put higher value treats in (“five hundred dollar bill” treats), he plays with it but never is so intrigued to empty it completely. It has a distinctive rubbery smell that can overpower the purpose of engaging the dog with the allure of good treats. ... show more
