The gas line that comes with this unit, is too short. It should come with at least an 18" flex line. Unless your shut off valve is on the RIGHT SIDE of this burner, the flex line is way to short. Thankfully I had a 22" flex line already. Other than that, it seems to be a pretty good unit.

Our fire place came with some home spun gas log that made a whistling noise and was ugly to watch burning. The Peterson Real Fyre 18" G45 Triple Burner System made a huge difference. It has a very quiet and natural flame. Nice heat emission and the rock wool adds that natural glowing coal effect. The only thing I used from my old fire log kit were the logs which made this a great choice for our needs. Aesthetically an awesome improvement !! ... show more

    • Nice burner for gas logs

I purchased this G45 burner to go along with some Peterson Real Fyre logs I got separately through Amazon Warehouse. We have a wood burning fireplace with a natural gas pipe that was currently used as a log lighter. It was easy to remove the log lighter with a wrench and then assemble the burner per the directions. I already had the pipe compound/thread sealant from some other plumbing work. This burner creates a nice thick fire with realistic yellow flames, and the rock wool "embers" twinkle and glow like real embers in a fireplace. We wanted to stop having wood fires as the house would get a smokey smell sometimes in the days after a fire especially when they was a pile of ashes in the fireplace. I only give a knock on "value" as even in the low 200s, it is a lot of money for what is basically a metal burner tube in a shallow metal pan with a bag of sand and a gas connector. It's a nice product but when you can buy larger sets of stainless steel burner tubes for my Weber grill for $20-30, it seems expensive for what this is, but I realize that this company has a nice product and generally something like this will be sold at a fireplace store and installed by a pro and thus the average consumer doesn't really focus on just the cost of the burner -- they are spending a lot of money for a "new gas fireplace" and there isn't much competition in this market I guess. Very satisfied with the product now...hope it lasts for many years and doesn't rust. Wish it cost a little less but I guess I would say that about a lot of things! ... show more

It's fine, I guess. This replaced an old until that was really nice but finally died. At least my family room fireplace is functional again, which I love, but it is really loud. Totally kills the ambience for cozying up in front of it. meh...

The product description said it would work for a vented fireplace. The installation instructions advised that the burner would only work in a wood-burning fireplace and also had minimum dimensions necessary for safe operation. I have a metal insert vented gas-burning fireplace and my unit did not meet the dimensions. It would have been nice to know that information prior to ordering. I had to pay the return shipping of $55, so I'm not a happy camper. ... show more

Comes with sand and pilot light control and burner. Adding the lava rocks really makes it. Plus ceramic logs. Had a gas nipple already setup, but had to make a couple of hardware store runs to get the right connectors and gas thread goop. Install videos are very helpful.

The Peterson real fyre triple burner is the way to go... Spend a little more but the flame pattern with this triple burner is as close to a real fire as you are going to get. Gas firelogs and burners have come a long way. Can't believe the amount of heat coming off the logs/burner. If you are going to go gas logs this is the one to get... I used the burner and the real fyre split oak designer logs and I couldn't be happier with the results!! ... show more
