I needed a cat carrier for a 12-hour trip to move to another state with my cat & 2 dogs & this will work perfectly. Of course he had to check it out as soon as I set on the floor. I love the fact that he has room to lay down or turn around without being too cramped for space, but also plenty of headroom to sit up or stand. There is good visibility for him to see out all the way around & straps to secure it with a seatbelt. The carrier has a solid bottom & a metal frame that keeps it all in shape but folds when not in use. To open the hood, you simply click a button & the hood folds back, making for easy one-hand access. It comes with a padded bottom but I just happened to have an oval bed that is the perfect size that I’m going to use inside a pillow case for easy cleaning later. Inside the carrier is a short strap with a clasp to attach to a harness on the cat. I’ll be using this with a Kitty Holster harness. All in all, it has everything I was looking for & to top it off, I noticed Amazon had a ‘Save with Used-Very Good’ option where I saved about $12 & received it inside an Amazon box & the only thing wrong was the original box had a big tear in the side of it but the carrier inside the plastic bag was untouched. Both my cats are in the 12lb range. Not huge, but big boys. I have found that the hardsided carriers have one of two issues: either they are cheaply made and parts break off; or they have a top load and the weight of the cat makes it impossible to carry by the handle without the top door popping open. Softsided carriers tend to collapse around the cat when carrying making it uncomfortable for them. It becomes very confining. And if you set them with the cat onto a chair or bench, the cat's moving around will have the carrier turning on its side and/or falling off. So I started looking for something better. I wanted it for vet visits as well as for long drives and camping trips (yes, the boys go camping). I wanted a solid bottom, plenty of "view", a sturdy and comfortable handle. I wanted to be able to open it so the cat could go in and out and not have it collapse. And I wanted it to be roomy enough inside so the cat can move around. I also wanted it to be strong enough to put both cats in one if needed. This carrier does all that. The bottom is solid and does not " fold over" from the cat's weight. The sides stay upright and don't collapse inwards when it's being carried and there is a hard corner between the bottom and sides, so the cat's moving around doesn't cause it to roll onto its side. The handle is sturdy and comfortable and does not put pressure on the clasps securing the top. The clasps are strong and secure. You do need to make sure it actually clicked close, but once closed, it stays closed. The size is a bit on the bigger side. Both my cats are about 12lbs. The carrier is quite big enough for one to lay down comfortably, stand, sit, and turn around. Both could fit in one carrier as long as they are OK "cuddling" while laying down (which they are). It would easily hold two smaller cats or a mama and newborns, or a litter of young kittens. And actually, it would be a great bed for a mama and newborns - mama could go in and out while the newborns stay safe from roling out. And it would be easy to just pop the top closed to take them to the vet. It is very easy to "set up" - just pull the legs apart and attach the eight velcro straps around the legs. I set up the first one and Looney1 immediately jumped in and checked it out. He loved it. Especially that I could close one side of the top to keep the dog's nose away while leaving the other side open. I then took both upstairs to Looney2 and he didn't want anything to do with them. Looney1 came up and again jumped in and rubbed his scent all over them. He even figured out how to pull the top down and push it back up. I went downstairs and snuck back up 5 minutes later. Looney2 was sitting in one happy as a clam. So they get the full Twooney seal of approval as well as mine. ... show more

This carrier is the absolute best. Great for car and vet trips. Stays securely closed, yet is easy to open. Attractive and gets tons of compliments. In addition, if you have limited space it is easily collapsible. I love the pet gear stroller as well.

We have a literal scaredy cat, but she did great in this carrier. I purchased the carrier to transport my fur-baby during an out of state move. It fit well on my front seat, and I could see kitty clearly while I drove. The tether included slides very easily, so on a test drive, when I left the carrier open, kitty was able to climb across the middle console and got herself all tied up. I ended up leaving the cover closed during our long drive, but that didn't seem to bother her much. The cushion could be softer, but she seemed comfortable for what the carrier is made of. I think it would be too small to add a blanket for a long drive, but would be fine for a quick trip to the vet or for a ride across town. ... show more

Purchased this carrier for my cat vet visits. A little on the heavy side, but it could be that my 21 pound cat was in it. Was so much more convenient and easier than the traditional pet carriers, I would definitely recommend. I may get a second one to have on hand for my other two cats, who are lighter in weight. The media could not be loaded. I was looking for a comfortable, sturdy, versatile and safe way to take my dog with me on car rides and this was a great find. It's compact yet spacious enough for my dog to be able to stand, sit, lay down and completely stretch out while sleeping. My dog enjoys it a lot. It can open and close well through both sides, and you could choose to leave it fully closed or fully open. Keep in mind that if you try to open it mid way, 2 out 3 times it will close back down again but if you use a clip/clasp to hold the fold to the middle handle part to keep it open, that may work great too. The only downer for me is I have not been able to find the cart that they sell that attaches to this carrier (they seem to only sell it together with the newer version of the carrier). These final 2 things would be why I scored it a 4 out of 5. p.s. no I did not actually use the carrier over a shopcart for it would stand way too high from the ground for my liking (not safe). ... show more
