I have not needed to use this as a deterrent to an attack, but it is very loud! I have carried it on runs as a solo female runner while traveling in DC as well as other countries. I would use it to deter an attacking dog or animal if I needed to and feel it would keep them away. I have been attacked by dogs in the past on my runs, and did not want to spray them with pepper spray but have sprayed around me to keep them away. I feel this alarm will be better - if I ever need to use it. Small and easy to carry. No problems with it going off accidentally. Pepper spray is not allowed to be carried in many countries, so this was a nice alternative to feel safer as a solo traveler.

I had this attached to my key ring and while sitting in a doctor’s office waiting room I pulled my keys out of a backpack and it somehow pulled the pin out, setting off the alarm. Holy cow this thing is loud. I was skeptical when it first arrived because it feels very flimsy, but it’s a piercing noise that I’m pretty sure would deter a creep if they were approaching you. If nothing else it would certainly confuse them as it did me when first hearing the insanely loud beeping because your mind goes into a quick panic trying to figure out what it is and how to stop it. The sound is so unsettling and overwhelming that I had 15 or so people staring at me as I clenched the alarm between my hands to muffle the sound while frantically searching for the dropped pin, which I couldn’t find, so I rushed out of the office and wrapped it in several layers of towels before discarding it in a deep trash can as the only way to escape the noise. TL;DR- it works!

First one I use in the house, so far so good, the other is on my keys. In the restaurant, purse calmly sitting at my side in the booth, keys clipped to the outside, the LOUD alarm goes off----it would not shut off, my brother and I take off outside with it, trying to get it to stop---finally a rock stopped it, we had to smash it!!! The other one is so far so good.
