  • Keeping insects at bay
Size: 1 Count (Pack of 1)
I bought this feeder to try to keep bees away from my humming bird feeder and it worked. The bees were annoying the birds and this feeder didn't allow the bees to get the nectar. Cleaning it was easy but the pool of nectar can leak out of the tray so that I need to be a little careful not to tilt the feeder. But, otherwise, it works well. ... show more

  • Entire feeder badly designed
Size: 1 Count (Pack of 1)
After taking this apart you can see why hummingbirds don't like it very much. The small round cap on the bottom that the resevoir screws into has a tiny pinhole. That is where the nectar flows through into the bottom, and with sugary water it's going to clog. It drips nectar through into the feeder part more than just lets it through easily. Hubby and I are going to use a screw to open the hole larger, and then hot glue together the 2 bottom pieces so it doesn't leak. It seems it either leaks like crazy or very little nectar fills the bottom. Not consistent and badly designed ovetall. I bought this because it had a built-in ant moat on top to keep the ants from reaching the nectar. The moat is pathetically shallow and water placed in it evaporates too quickly. Even if refilled twice a day. A good breeze even sloshed the water out, so it wouldn't have worked with vegetable oil, either. A complete waste of money. Wouldv'e been cheaper to buy the actual ant moat and a cheaper feeder together than to bother with this. I have one of those ant moats with my other feeder and have never had an ant reach the flowers where the nectar is. I very highly doubt the ant moat is even half an inch deep on this feeder. It's a good idea to have the ant moat built in, but very poorly designed and needs to be way, way deeper, plus the entire design is horribly flawed. ... show more

  • Very nice, easy to fill, well made.
Size: 1 Count (Pack of 1)
Well made and nice. It can be filled by unscrewing the red plastic top. The clear plastic well allows you to see when your getting low on food. Me and my hummingbirds would prefer if their feeder didn't run out of food. The 4 flower base is well made and easy to clean. I also like the sitting bars at the base of the flowers. They are small and don't allow the larger birds that like to raid the feeder anywhere to sit. I really like this hummingbird feeder and will purchase again. ... show more

  • Good Feeder - Great Customer Service
Size: 1 Count (Pack of 1)
I bought one of these last year at a local store. I liked it. Never had and issues with leaking. I wanted to get a second one for the back yard but couldn't find one anywhere so I order from Amazon. This one leaked pretty badly the first time I used it. The only difference I could se was the new one didn't have the little rubber gasket the goes between the plug and the bottle. I called Perky Pet's customer service line hoping they could send me the gasket. I got a live person who was very helpful and they are sending me a new replacement feeder. I give the feeder 4 stars but I give their customer service department 5 stars. Update - I got my replacement feeder from Perky Pet today. No leaks. As I suspected it was the missing rubber gasket because after testing the new unit I took the gasket and put it in the one that was leaking and now it doesn't leak. If I could only find a replacement gasket I could still use it. Seems a shame to throw it out for lack of a 20 or 30 cent rubber gasket. ... show more

  • Works just fine - the perches allow the hummingbirds to actually sit ...BUT IT LEAKS!!!
Size: 1 Count (Pack of 1)
Works just fine - the perches allow the hummingbirds to actually sit on it while they drink, which in my experience means they stay longer and allow more time for observation. The best part though is the top-fill feature. No more pouring sticky sugar water into a small opening on the bottom of a feeder, then spilling it all over your hands when you try to screw the bottom back on and flip it right side up. This one is SO much easier and faster to fill, and works just as well as any other one. Updated review: one of the two feeders I bought has begun leaking and goes from full to empty in less than 24 hours. I can't see anything to obvious to fix, so I think it's just the build quality. Too bad, it's so much easier to use than a bottom filling one but I won't buy another one to replace it - 50% fail rate is too high. ... show more

  • Quality has gone downhill
Size: 1 Count (Pack of 1)
I have used this float style feeder for several years. They are plastic so our desert heat takes a toll on them. Originally they had glass containers (which I still use) but now have plastic which yellow with the sun. The base used to be heavier plastic but are now thinner and more flimsy. Also the perches are thin and break off easily. I modify mine with aftermarket flower perches (here on Amazon). This float style does NOT do well with wind as it will leak out food. I have my three ridgedly attached to mounts so they can't swing. With our heat, when food level reaches bottom it will solidify and turn to sugar. They are easily cleaned. Amazon shipping methods are sketchy sometimes. A totally plastic product shipped by mail in a heavy paper bag will not arrive without some damage. With all this said I still prefer this feeder over others. ... show more

  • Not as advertised.
Size: 1 Count (Pack of 1)
I had 2 other feeders and the ants/bees kept the hummingbirds away. They leaked, and it was a hassle chasing ants and bees away. This Perky Pet feeder seemed perfect at first; it claimed "no bees, no ants" would get in. Well, that lasted a minute. A first, the birds loved it. Then I noticed no hummingbirds were feeding. They attempted, then flew off. I investigated, cleaned the feeder, and refilled. It wasn't long before I noticed the bottom was leaking the nectar, attracting the bees and ants. I washed it again, and noticed about 10-15 huge ants had gotten in. They were not visible, but feeding in the lower, red portion of the feeder. Since I threw away the other two feeders for this very reason, I will keep this until I find another. I enjoy watching the hummingbirds perched and feeding. Very disappointed this feeder was not as advertised. Should have mentioned, the Moat is a joke. Ants somehow crawl around the edges of the "moat" and make it inside the feeder through the flowers. Definitely do not recommend. ... show more
