  • Great kayaks. Very comfortable seats!
We have rented kayaks for years and finally bought our own. This kayak is by far the best we've used. So comfortable, easy to transport and cuts the water like a knife. Out for 5 hours on a lake on our first day and enjoyed every minute. The high back seats are the best. Never felt back pain after five hours on the lake. The bottle holder is not very deep so it doesn't keep a standard water bottle very secure but other than that small issue this is an excellent kayak. Very stable and the 9.5 ft size was perfect for us. We are 6' and 5'10" and we had plenty of leg room. Great job Perception on the Tribe 2000! ... show more

  • Awesome for Lake Touring
I absolutely love my kayak! It arrived in excellent condition. I have only taken it out on lakes- but it is perfect for that. It fits me and my two dogs and the water tight pouch works perfectly for cell phones or cameras. I'm about 6 feet tall and fit very comfortably in the kayak. The side handles allow me to walk it down to the water on my own, but there are also handles on either end for a friend to help get it down to tricky put ins. It rides choppy water well. All around great purchase! ... show more

  • Love my kayak
I'll start with the only con to mention. I ordered this kayak two weeks ago and it arrived this past Friday. It was storming so I had the delivery guys put it directly into my storage unit. It was wrapped in tattered plastic with some cardboard underneath and folded over the two ends of the kayak. Yesterday I took it out and ripped off the plastic to find that the kayak has two large gashes on one side, probably from something large and heavy being crammed up next to it during shipping or perhaps from a razor opening a box that perhaps it was shipped it. The kayak came from Utah apparently, and I'm in Florida, so I do not plan to return it because this would be a major hassle and it's not worth it because the cuts are not deep enough to cause any problems on the water. It's just extremely disheartening to receive an already damaged item when you've spend over $500 on it. :( On to the pros. I'm very pleased with the kayak overall. First, it's just beautiful. I bought the 2019 Tribe in sea spray and the colors are great. This kayak is slightly more compact at 9.5' and I was able to maneuver it out of and back into the storage unit on my own, although carrying it long distances will not be possible for me personally because 45 lbs is a lot heavier than I thought it would be! I needed assistance to carry it all the way down to the water, and I will need to purchase a cart now that I realize I won't be able to manage that on my own. I took it out for an hour and half yesterday. On the water, it handled beautifully considering it its shorter than most. I felt quite stable. I was on flat channel water for a bit and then moved out to the deeper and choppier bay water. The scupper holes obviously allow water into the bottom of the boat, so expect your feet and things you store in the back well to get wet. Other than that, I really only got wet from the water dripping off of the paddles. The storage hole in the hull is somewhat small, but large enough for a cell phone, keys, a wallet. I was surprised that the cover to the hole was just a rubber lid, but it seemed to fit snugly over the hole and I believe your items will stay dry as long as the kayak doesn't roll. I'm not sure if the lid would stay on in that case. The hull of this boat is pretty wide so I found I needed to order a longer paddle for my height. I purchased a Carlisle magic plus paddle, which I'm also pleased with, but be sure to look carefully at the length you need because I went 230cm and I'm not sure it's long enough. Overall, I think this is a great kayak. I personally couldn't manage one that was any bigger and I definitely didn't want to go any smaller, so I appreciate the size. The colors are vibrate and probably more beautiful than portrayed in the picture. My only hesitation in buying one online like this in the future would be that if it's damaged upon arrival, there is really no simple recourse. ... show more

  • Great product
After doing a great deal of research, I bought two of these kayaks at the beginning of the summer for use on a NH lake by myself, my husband and our guests. I have been extremely happy with the purchase. The kayaks are very comfortable, stable and easy to maneuver for everyone who has tried them. The shipping was great through Amazon — they were delivered by truck to my home quickly and in perfect condition so I didn’t have to worry about how to arrange transport from one of the major outdoor stores (where I had also been considering making the purchase). ... show more

  • Stable
Tracks reasonable well, is VERY stable and is more comfortable than cheaper versions & all the rental ones that i have used. Perfect solution for new or occasional user that wants a good rec boat that is not concerned with moving real fast.

  • Sturdy, comfortable and lightweight
Kayak is very sturdy and comfortable. I love that it is also lightweight so I can lift out of the water by myself at my dock. Great find!

  • Arrived with a huge dent
My kayak arrived with a large dent on the bow. If it arrives dented that’s probably not a good sign of how well it will hold up.

  • FANTASTIC KAYAK, TERRIBLE SHIPPER, WHERE ARE THE TIEDOWN LOOPS
I love the kayak, the manuverability, the stability, the appearance and the fact that it is light enough to carry it by myself on land. I highly recommend this type of kayak. Unfortunately, Perception didn't complete the kayak prior to shipment. It came without 4 of the 12 onboard nylon deck loops (padeye) and screws. Perception didn't even attempt to screw in an padeyes because there are no screw holes in the kayak hull in those 4 places. Note, Perception's manufacturer's statement of origin was signed off by the builder and VP of marketing and product. Most unfortunately, Amazon used a very cheap and unreliable shipper (XPO). The kayak was wrapped in ripped cardboard and plastic. Since it's COVID-19 season, we chose not to spend too much time with the unmasked shipping personnel, and therefore did a quick check of the kayak before sending them on their way. Only after unwrapping it did we find the nose severely dented. With a heat gun, most of the dent has been removed, but a lousy feeling about buying this great kayak from Amazon remains. ... show more
