  • Does what it's supposed to do
I wanted to wait until I had used this a few times before writing a review because I had previously purchased a knock off of this product that was an utter disappointment and I returned it. The Pentair Kreepy Krauly worked right out of the box but it has taken me a few times of using it to adjust it ...so it's perfect. I live in Florida and only use it once a week because I have a screened in pool which is about 22 ft. in length and my pool does not get dirty. I also do not get leaves in my pool because of the screened enclosure. I brush the walls and steps before using the unit. I am really a novice at this and I found that I had to add one more length of hose than the manufacturer recommended to get it to go into the far corner of my pool between my steps and my raised spa. At first it would get caught in that very tight space between the steps and the spa (and I considered removing that extra hose length to remedy it), but instead I turned "up" the water flow attachment speed to "faster" (about a quarter of turn), gave it a few minutes... and then it figured out how to get out of that spot in a short amount of time. I also had to adjust the water flow attachment a number of other times, but only a quarter turn at a time to get it just right so the cleaner did not get stuck on the main drain (turn back the water flow attachment to "slower", which lessens the amount of suction so the cleaner and the main drain don't just keep sucking each other together). My suggestion is when you first set up this unit to set the water flow attachment in the middle between Faster and Slower which I think would eliminate a lot of the adjustments I had to make... and then make your adjustments from there . You could also close your Main drain to accomplish keeping the cleaner from getting stuck on the main drain.. I have also adjusted the singular weight I have on the hose (I only require one weight for my length of pool) so the weight is now closer to the cleaner (maybe 8 inches from the unit) to prevent it from tipping backwards after coming off a wall. You just have to play with all these different things... a little trial and error. After these adjustments, today it worked perfectly. It cleans the pool, climbs the walls and doesn't get stuck in corners or on the main drain. It takes some patience and small adjustments until you get it right but then it does an excellent job of cleaning the pool. I think any pool cleaner you might buy will require adjustments. My pool is spotless and it only takes about 3 hours. After I use it, I wash down my hoses to get the chlorine off, both inside and out, as well as washing down the cleaner itself both inside and out which should prolong the life of the unit. I store it in a pool box (detaching all the hoses which should be laid straight) to protect everything). I highly recommend this unit. Hope this is of some help. ... show more

  • Better than DIY
This is a replacement for a different pool cleaner that not only stopped working after just two years but was “unfixable” as I took the entire thing apart replacing just about every part to no avail as many reviewers have stated for that brand as well. The Kreepy Krauly does a fairly decent job, the draw back, in my opinion, is it basically follows wherever the hose happens to be floating around the pool as opposed to making its own path and have the hose follow the unit. Consequently there are times I have pulled the hose in different directions just to get the unit to clean an area it continues to miss. Guessing it’s because the Kreepy works on a propulsion principle as compared to the pulling/driving principle the other cleaner used. But as pointed out in all its marketing the Kreepy Krauly has no moving parts to break, big plus. Over all at this price point, it’s a good unit and cleans my 18,000 gal rectangular pool with basically dirt from air more than anything else in about 4-5 hrs. And eliminates the job from my to do list! High hopes this works for a lot longer than just two years. ... show more

  • Still one of the best cleaners
This is my second one. The first one lasted over 15 years and when it finally cracked, I was worried I wouldn't be able to replace it but Pentair is still making the same model and it works every bit as well as the original if not better. I actually think it works better at lower pressure than than the older model it replaced. My pool has large trees above it and the only issue I have ever had with this cleaner is with the little cones that redwood trees drop. If the larger ones sink to the bottom, they can "jam" up the cleaner but easily cleaned out by a sweep of the finger. ... show more

  • Kreepy Krauly Kruiser follow up one year later
I have been using the Kreepy Krauly Classic pool cleaner for the past 40 years plus. Durning those years, I had to replace it three times due to wear and tear. My pool was 27 foot wide and 50 foot long. 8 foot in the deep end and 3 foot in the shallow end. Over the years we developed a crack in the shallow end just below the Skimmer. It was repaired three times, but the crack re-appeared. So, we had another pool built within the old pool. So now our pool walls are 12 inches thick rather than the previous 6 inches. The pool is one foot smaller in width and length and 6 inches shallower. Because of this, I had to keep the Kreepy Krauly out of the shallow end of the pool. Once it got to the shallow end the KK Classic would get stuck and the hose would kink and end up bending and restrict the suction of the KK. Apparently, the pool should be at least 3 foot deeper or more in the shallow end for KK to work properly. Last month I decided to purchase another Kreepy Krauly Classic as a spare incase my present one cease to function since it is quit old and worn. The KK Classic was not available so I ordered the Kreepy Krauly Kruiser. The KK Kruiser is not as expensive as the KK Classic and has less external parts. The Kruiser does not need the removeable Wings or the Bumper the KK Classic requires. The Kruiser already has a bumper built in and does not need the Wings. It uses a different Regulator Valve than the Classic. The Vacuum Seal and the Foot Pad are the only things you have to replace just as in the KK Classic as they will wear out in concrete pools. I installed the KK Kruiser on my pool and I found that I did not need the Hose Weight. Without the Hose Weight, the Kruiser’s Vacuum Seal stays flat on the deep end of the pool and also in the shallow end. As of yet I have not seen the Kruiser getting stuck in the shallow end as the KK Classic started to do once I had the pool rebuilt. I am very pleased with the Kreepy Krauly Kruiser. If I need to replace the KK again in future, I will purchase another Kruiser over the Classic. The KK Classic made a very loud clicking sound. The KK Kruiser is very quite. I hope my experience will help any one who is contemplating which model of Kreepy Krauly to purchase. I originally purchased the Kreepy Krauly Kruiser August of 2023. I looked at the foot pad and the shirt on my Kruiser and there is very little wear using it in my concrete pool. It is still working as it was one year ago when I first purchased it. I had doubts when I first purchased it because I was impressed with the KK Classic. Now I would purchased the Kruiser again if I had to order another. I hope this review helps anyone who is undecided between the KK Classic and the KK Kruiser. ... show more
