  • Different than picture
Item is unbranded As in no logo on vacuum. Confused with less expensive non logo vacuum. Seems to work like my old one which is fairly good.

  • Great Product! Does the Job!
SandShark in ground cleaner. Very useful, well designed and structured product from Pentair. One day at my friend's pool party, I saw he was using an old model of this product. He had it about 5+ years and he like it. I was impressed by the simple looking and the job it does. I decided to buy one for my pool. Got it from In the Pool Supplies on Amazon.com with $100 rebate from Pentair at the summary promotion. The fedex guy delivered on time as planed.( It was a Sunday night about 10pm, the scheduled delivery time was passed but I saw an Fedex girl was driving a Non-Fedex Truck stop at my front door and a Fedex guy carried the box and was running to my door. He apologized for the late and explained his truck was broken down on the road so they were rushing to finish the work... ) Back to the product, I installed and used it next day. The installation time maybe took me as loong as I was trying open the box. You just need to connect all the tubes together and one end connect to the suction head one end to your skimmer hole at the end or Pool Cleaner suction port on the pool wall. It runs great as described on the website, the SmartTrac programmed steering system maneuvers around tight corners, ladders, and obstacles to assure fast, thorough cleaning performance. It cleans faster than random-style cleaners reducing the possibility of missed spots. It runs pool floor and the walls. Make sure you are adjust the suction to a right suction power by using provided suction gauge with the yellow indicator. If the suction is too high, the Sandshark may 'jumping' out of the water... It has a simple design. No visible wheels and belts, no bag to replace. It has 12" wide cleanning path. The inclueded 32 feets tube covers my middle size pool. It also inclueds the vacucm port adapter for the wall vacuum port and the corn adapter and water pressure regulator for the skimmer hole. If you want find out more, here is the official website for the product : [...] The weather is hot these days and my pool water needs to be treated. I have it a about a week now. I'm pretty happy with the purchase so far. Hope my review will help your product reaserch. Updates: 9/19/2012 It has been 2 weeks now. It still runs good. Only one thing I found out that vacuum hoses need to be stored properly. When it is not in use, they like to be place in STRAIGHT. Since my pool bottom was clean and only has one skimmer hold, I had to remove it and placed on the pool deck (for 2 days) with all the hoses attached (this is not right since first section kept curved because the vacuum head is sit on the ground). I thought it will staighten back to it original shape when I replace them back in the pool but it didn't. The lead hose (the short one connect to the vacuum head) bended after 2 days. I guess it's because of the heat under the sun light made the plastic changed its shape. When I put the vacuum back in water, the vacuum head doesn't sit on the bottom flatly because of the bended lead hose forces the Sandshark head in `nose down' position which make it point 30 degree to the pool bottom. But when I turn the pump on, it will back to normal position and works fine. I concern about the moving paten might change little because of that... I'm still watching... 9/20/2012 To change back the shape of the hose, I detached first bended lead hose and put it on my pool brush handle and leave it there. I hope it will straighten itself.... will report later... 9/21/2012 The hose straighten itself. I read the owner's manual again. It clearly states that the hoses need to be stored flat and staight... :) I just leave it in the pool now. Also accoring to the manual, it shoud be removed from the water when shcoking your pool... 9/24/2012 Adjusting the suction is the key to let him to do the perfect job for your pool. ... show more

  • ONLY POOL CLEANER THAT WORKS FOR MY 17000 GAL. 8.5 FT. DEEP IN-GROUND FIBERGLASS POOL
OUR POOL HAS BEEN WORKING SINCE 1975. AFTER TRYING MANY DIFFERENT AUTOMATIC CLEANERS HOOKED UP TO THE SKIMMER FOR ABOUT 25 YEARS I FINALLY FOUND THE PENTAIR GW 7900. IT LASTS ABOUT 10 YEARS, SO I AM ON MY THIRD ONE. FOLLOW THE SET-UP INSTRUCTIONS. THE FEEDER LINE WITH WEIGHTS AND ENOUGH SECTIONS TO REACH END-TO END IS A BIT COMPLICATED. THE SUCTION PRESSURE HAS A GAGE AND MUST BE ADJUSTED. KEEP WORKING WITH IT AND THEN IT DOES THE JOB. CONCRETE POOLS WILL BE EASIER. ... show more

  • If you dont have a pressure cleaner, this is your next best bet
I purchased my first house in May 2011 and I quickly learned that the pool was a pain to maintain. I had to sweep/vacuum 3-4 times a week but the most frustrating part was that the pool looked like I never did it in the first place only 12 hours later. I didn't have a pressure side pool cleaner, so my only other choices were to go with a robot ($1000ish, and out of the question at that price) or a suction side pool cleaner. I had a pool person personally recommend this model over all other models and he even stated that he had one himself and liked it. I ordered it from amazon and it got here super fast. Things went well through the summer picking up most of the dirt, sand, and grass clippings left by the wind and swimmers. I could enjoy my clean pool for once, instead of having to always clean it. In fact I think I only had to manually clean it twice from May to August. Once fall rolled around, the sandshark did fair but it choked on large bunches of leaves and acorns and there were a lot of those. Unclogging several times a day just didnt do enough for it to keep up. Now granted, I do take it with a grain of salt. I have 4 large trees and it was fall, so any cleaner would struggle in that situation I would imagine. The cleaner does great other than during the fall season in keeping up with cleaning the pool. A few things to note if you plan to use ANY suction cleaner: -you will have to clean out your pump baskets much more often (unless you get an inline filter, and you will be cleaning that a bunch instead) -if you have only one skimmer and you have no other suction port (my situation), then alot of floating surface debris (dust, grass clippings, etc) will not be skimmed off. Eventually most of it will fall to the bottom of the pool and that creates more debris falling to the bottom. The goal of the skimmer is to remove that floating surface debris. With the skimmer out of commision, you will get a buildup of surface debris. -there is additional wear and tear on the pump because it is trying to suck water from one device and if it gets clogged it strains the suction pipes and the motor (imagine a chunk of ice from your favorite frozen concoction gets stuck in the straw. You have to strain to suck the ice through or pull the straw out and clear the ice out). I thought it was a good cleaner and it reduced the amount of time I had to maintain and clean my pool most of the time. I recently had a pool renovation and had a pressure side line installed for a polaris 280, so I no longer use the Sandshark. The polaris 280 has a much bigger suction hole and I am curious to see how it performs this fall, but the biggest difference I see is that the skimmer is doing its job again and catching about 60% of the surface debris and catching it in the skimmer basket before it falls to the bottom. I rarely ever clean the pump basket anymore (and I have only backwashed once since filling the pool 2 months ago). But for those who dont have a pressure line, the SandShark is your next best thing. Just be prepared to clean out the filter baskets alot more (but that sure beats having to pull out all of the manual vacuum equipment). Rating 4.0 out of 5.0. ... show more
