  • Good for plaster pools.
Low maintenance easy to use. Easy to repair and fix. Simplicity itself

  • Better off with Generic
This is a two fold review, one on product and one on customer service, of the manufacturer not seller. Or in this case, the lack thereof I purchased this due to the claim it was made for concrete pools. As some of you know they are much harder on the cleaners and do not always perform as well as the surface is not even and smooth. When it arrived I admit I was caught up in the coloring and unique design. Looks like something you would see in a sci-fi movie. Unboxing and assembly was easy enough, the regulator for the skimmer caused some concerns but worked it out with a little adjusting. Once in the pool it initially worked very well, started skimming as soon as I turned the filter back on, I use the intake port that is in the pool. Seems to have a better flow on my pool. After an hour I saw that it was getting stuck in the stair area. Moved it, as I have done with others, and thought nothing of it. It kept returning and doing the same. Searched on google for similar issues from others and adjusted accordingly. Worked for a day or so. Of course while at work very hard to keep moving and came home twice with skimmer in same spot. At this point I contacted their "customer service" via phone. After sitting on hold for quite some time I spoke to a rep who basically told me he was in sales and not "really knowledgeable in the working of the thing". He passed me to someone else, after another long wait person I spoke with gave me some FAQ response and then told me I could "probably find a solution if I searched online". Once I stopped laughing I told him thanks for his help and went back to the internet search. What I found was not encouraging as there was little data on the specifics I was experiencing. The concrete version was relatively new and consisted merely of a different rubber skimmer. Not sure of technical term they use. While it did clean it also kept getting stuck in areas that no other cleaner had before. Not to mention the walls were not as clean as the zodiac had cleaned them. This was my former cleaner. Simply put a lot more brushing involved. This went on for several months and hottest part of summer was over so algae was reduced as well as the need to brush so I did not pay much attention to the cleaner. However one Saturday when I went out to hose the filter I noticed the rubber portion had come off the cleaner body. When I stopped filter and pulled it out noticed the portion that it attaches to was missing a piece of plastic. After searching in the pool I finally found not one but two pieces. Noticed they were worn down as well. tried to affix using one of the gorilla glues but could not get it to align well enough to reattach the ring. It had been 6 months since purchase so I called their customer service again. The first snotty person I spoke to told me I must have snapped it some how as their product would NEVER do that. I asked to speak to someone who could explain how I could return under warranty. She told me " we do not warranty customer abuse". A true asset to her company I thought not realizing it was exactly what they encouraged. After getting no where I decided to go the BBB route. Once again snotty and condescending reply to be told only way this could happen was abuse. No information requested just a blanket statement. After replying that answer was unsatisfactory told to send pictures. Which I gladly did. NO response at all, nothing. Complaint was closed as no reply from them was forthcoming and I did not agree with response. So now I have a $300 work of modern art that is useless. My wife is in real estate and I own a contracting company with my son. No it is not poetic justice as I am an honest and hard working contractor who finishes on time and on budget. However I can say that neither of us will ever recommend this product or avoid any opportunity to let people know how Pentair Pool treats customers and their lack of commitment to making things right. Bad enough that the maintenance on these things is generally the equivalent to buying one of the knock offs, but to be treated this way and not stand behind your product speaks volumes as to their integrity and commitment to customer service. ... show more

  • Still gets stuck in corners
This Kreepy Krauly replaced an earlier generation model I had for about 10 years. Very low maintenance cost with the old one- 5 stars. Just replaced a couple components due to normal wear over it’s lifetime . The new model works about the same as the old model. Decent but far from perfect. The unit still can’t get out of 90 degree corners without my assistance and still gets hung up on stairs occasionally. I think build quality is good as compared to the old one and looks more updated in our gunite pool. ... show more

  • Works Better Than Our Pool Guy!
We've been using Kreepy Krauly's for years. The quality of the new ones might not be as good as the older ones but they work and I break even after just 2 months versus paying a pool guy. If you have the aptitude to check your pool water and add chlorine once a week, scrub your tile now and then, and check other chemicals as needed (thx Leslie Pools for assistance there), who needs a pool guy? But if you can't do that, get a pool guy AND one of these! They still vacuum MUCH better than a pool guy will! ... show more

  • just what I ordered
I'm very happy with Kreepy Krauly. They work great, and last several years. This is my 3rd Kreepy Krauly since 1989. At times I leave Kreepy in the pool just to keep movement in the water. Its durable, easy to handle.

  • Replacing a pre-2013 version of Kreepy Krauly with this new one - Suction issue
Purchased as a replacement for existing Kreepy Krauly for in-ground plaster pool. Previous versions (qty 2) lasted 8 years each. After 4 days of testing, comparison and talking with Ricky at Pentair, I finally figured out the issue. The swivel assembly (where you connect the hose to the two tubes on the Krauly) doesn't snap together and seal like the old version. This allows water to siphon in and degrades performance. If you squeeze it together it works fine (but you get tired of holding it after about 30 minutes...). Pentair said to send it back as defective. Might just have got one that didn't line up exactly but it did swivel it on the tubes and you could see how it would align/misalign easily. I think they need to look at putting side locking snaps on that plastic section. If I had to use it, I could have glued it together or siliconed it together, but for now, I'll use my old version and see if Pentair can figure out how to seal it better with a revision. A tight-fitting swivel assembly would make this a 5 STAR unit as its' predecessor's were. One other reviewer mentioned poor suction/speed of Krauly. I would bet they were having this same issue. ... show more

  • Nice upgrade to an already great product.
This new Pentair 360040 Kreepy Krauly is actually my 3rd KK and seems to be the best of the lot. It was a bit difficult to assemble those new-style wings, and even after I thought I had them properly attached, one fell off after I put it into service. But now that everything is properly assembled, including that errant wing, Kreepy Krawly #3 is working great. We'll see how well it holds up compared to its 2 predecessors. The 1st one lasted well over a dozen years and the 2nd one lasted about 8 years. I'm hoping this is the last one I'll have to purchase. And the new one looks great! Oh, by the way, the solid disc still gets caught on the rim of the center drain, so I may have to switch to the pleated disc with the fringes. Fortunately I still have the old one and hopefully it will fit the new one. ... show more
