Size: SQLII30SD Style: Squall Ii Star Drag
Used my brand-new Squall 30SD for the first time to jig in 300' of water. Hooked up to something big after a few minutes of jigging. As I was bringing it up, the reel started to sound and feel rough. After a few more minutes, a screw from the side plate fell out and the reel started to slip gears. We decided to hand-line the fish the last 100' or so since the reel was not functional. Unfortunately, the line broke and we lost the fish as well as my jig. Back at home, I found that ALL of the screws for the side plate on the handle-side were loose. I opened it up and inspected the gears which looked to be undamaged. The reel appears to be well engineered, but the assembly was terrible.
