  • It was perfect for me!
Size: 2.7 Gallon
This is an absolutely wonderful fish tank, it's exactly what I needed and wanted. It arrived extremely well packaged (in total- 4 boxes) and came with everything listed. I already own a small heater and a light fixture for my Betta fish, so I was very pleased to find this glass fish tank with just the missing piece I needed (a filter.) The filter is very quiet and arrived with a single carbon cartridge (I honestly wasn't sure if one was included, I did buy replacements too.) It was very easy to set up and it looks sleek and smooth. The filter does have an adjustable setting for the water flow but my Betta is having fun swimming against the flow when he feels like it. The tank is deep enough for him to sink to the bottom and simply relax. With the aid of the long silk plants I have he's able to anchor himself and rest on the surface easily. I do turn off the filter when I'm feeding him because the flow is too strong and throws his food around (you could easily decrease the flow issues by placing plants or something else in front of it.) The plastic lid is fine for me, it's nice to have it in order to keep the heat in, it's also helpful that the filter and heater are able to hang off the tank without any issues. The only issue I'm having with the lid is water clinging to it. All in all this was the perfect fish tank for me, I'm happy with the fact that it's not too big or too small. I'd buy it again in a heartbeat, I'm happy with the quality and the price. 😊 UPDATE-- It's been 6 months and I'm still in love with my fish tank. I keep looking and reading reviews for another tank set up but I keep coming back to this one. I love that it's glass and there's NO reflective glare! The cost for a small heater and light on top of buying this tank is still worth the price (in my opinion.) I now have a small male Betta (RIP Jester) and African dwarf frog and the filter hasn't been bothersome for her. Now I just need to find room for another tank! 😆 UPDATE******** It's now been over a year and my fish tank is still awesome! I can't stress this enough, there is NO reflective glare, the filter is quite and I have room to put in my own filter media. My next tank will definitely be a Penn Plax, I purchased a 5 gallon Penn Plax from a different seller and it arrived broken, so I decided to try the 5.5 gallon Aqueon Glow fish tank and I HATE the reflective glare. ... show more

  • I'm buying another soon
Size: 2.7 Gallon
**EDIT** The thermometer is not designed to be inside the tank. This was my fault, I was an idiot and did not read the instructions (who does that? idk) I had to remove it and do a full water change as it literally melted. I'm going to keep an eye on my little buddy the next few days to make sure it won't cause too much damage. Please read the instructions, don't make my same mistake D: *** Edit #2 Aug 18th *** I started noticing my little buddy, who my team had named ATO, seemed to be getting fin rot on the back of his tail. This last few weeks I've been treating it, thinking it was due to the thermometer issue. After two weeks of treatment however, I soon learned it was because of a massive bacterial infection that was all over him. Poor thing :( I bought him from PetSmart after I had let the tank sit for about 2 weeks to let the system build the beneficial bacteria it needs to keep the tank clean. Thinking he was a beautiful tri-color beta with clear fins, I was sorely mistaken. All of the white areas on him before was a bactiera that was eating him alive! I've added a picture of what he looks like now alongside what he looked like before. There are still some portions of the infection on his face, but he is sooooooooo much better now. He really looks like a different fish. The tank is still holding strong and even with the medication I've mixed with the water, the glass is still as clear as it was on day one. ************ I've had this tank for about a month now, and let me just say that for the price I bought it (about $40) it was well worth it. I've been looking to get a new betta fish buddy, and decided to get a smaller tank to have him by my desk. Look no farther for a great glass tank. This was the only glass tank I could find at this size with a filter, net, and thermometer. The net is nice, it's small, but I don't expect you would put any bigger fish in this tank, it's much too small for that. The thermometer IS NOT like it is in the pictures. If you stick it on the front of the tank, it will be backwards. The sticky side does not tell you the temp. I put it in the back of the tank, I'd rather have it hidden behind the plants anyway. The filter is great, I'm using my own medium instead of the charcoal filters (bio filters for the win :D) This setup is great for a single betta fish. In fact, the little boy I got loves his spacious new home. He actually started making a bubble nest in less than 24 hours! By the end of his first week in his new home he was absolutely in love with it. This tank has stayed clear (aside from when I first put everything in.) The whole thing arrived in great condition with no scratches. Just keep in mind if you have a betta in this tank, you will need to slow the water flow. You can see in the pictures I accomplished that by putting a sponge under it. I also stuffed a small bit down the intake tube so that it wouldn't ever get stuck to him, and he is able to swim right past it with no issues. The filter still works great. I'll link below the heater (a must if you are planning on getting a betta), table, plants, decorations, and type of sponge I used. Unfortunately I bought the sand and little house structure elsewhere. And these I got for the filter though I used VERY LITTLE of it (about 5 pieces of the media and 2 starter balls) so if you can find smaller packages go for it: Biohome Ultimate Filter Media, Aquarium bio filter Media (1 lbs) Biohome Ultimate Filter Media (Filter Starter Balls) remember to let the plants and filter set for at least a week or so before you add your little aquatic friend :D ... show more

  • Great beginner aquarium set and betta is happy as can be
Size: 2.7 Gallon
after 4 months with this tank+kit, i believe i'm qualified to give an honest and helpful review. the set up was easy and everything was nicely packaged. they also included a net which was a bit too small for my betta bc he's a fast swimmer. the rounded glass gives a classy and elegant touch. the lid and hinges are kind of flimsy but at least i got the right hinges unlike many other reviewers. the lid and the filter work well. i also liked the included thermometer sticker. i was a bit skeptical of it so i also bought an electric thermometer and i found that the sticker is actually quite accurate! the filter is adjustable (strong and slow flow) but the lowest setting seemed kind of fast for my betta. over time, i found that the filter was very annoying. the water intake tube got clogged with so much algae, plant roots, debris and was hard to remove from the main filter when cleaning. i found that the filter seemed good as a biological filter and a basic mechanical filter but during water changes, i would notice a lot of debris. after 4 months, the filter died on me. i wasn't too disappointed because i couldn't even find replacement catridges and i was meaning to upgrade my betta to a sponge filter+air pump system. all in all, this tank is a great tank for beginners and my betta seems very happy here. one day, i hope to upgrade him to a bigger tank and potentially a community tank, but that's in the distant future:) tl;dr: this tank is cheap and great as a starter set because it gives everything you may need for a betta fish. many people seem to think that bettas can live in small decorative vases but they actually require at least a 2.5g tank with a filter. very pleased w my purchase! ... show more
