Easy to assemble, like four steps to get the filter and light attached and running. Quiet when running, several lighting options (including rave rainbows or breathing colors). Our Betta fish did circle laps in this tank upon entry of his new home. Perfect for a little fish or two. Make sure you buy some replacement filters to change them out every four weeks. Beware when feeding the fish to shut off the filter so food doesn't get sucked up to ensure longevity between filter changes, but most importantly so your fish gets to eat. ... show more

I will say that for the cost, it's a nice little tank. It can be hard to find something in this shape, so if you really wanted a smaller tube, this one will do. My two major gripes are the light and the lid. The light is effectively useless for anything but seeing the fish and barely at that- if you have any live plants like I do, it won't be enough to keep them happy in the least. As you can see in the first picture, I bough a different light altogether and it works for all three tanks on the table. I took the whole light unit out of the little groove it slides into in the lid and now it has an extra hole in it which I plan to put another plant of some kind into so the roots can dangle into the water. The lid itself is a whole other issue because if you keep your tank fairly full as I do, water accumulates on the underside and EVERY time you tip it open, it will do its best to dump that water out the back of the tank. Not a deal breaker, but a lesson I learned the hard way. You can see in the second picture both how much water is there and how it could slide off and the hole in the lid left by the light. This being said, I DO like the tank! It's a nice size -not to big nor too small- my tiger lotus is flourishing and it'll be perfect for my micro fish. I cannot stress enough how this is not a good tank for a betta, what most people think they want to put in here. While it's wonderful that you want an appropriately SIZED tank for your friend, this will be much too tall and you're better off spending the money on a 5 gallon or above in either a regular rectangular shape or a nice bowfront. The betta will appreciate not having to swim up so far to the surface. Would not recommend as a first tank for a child because any fish that will be comfortable in here won't be something you want a young one looking after. ... show more

At Christmas break, my kids’ teacher asked for a volunteer to take care of the class fish for the holidays. I volunteered because I feel guilty for never doing anything else, and I figure that feeding a fish is about as low-key as it gets. Then I picked up the fish… a betta, who was living in a small, unheated fish bowl with no filter or heater. I was pretty sure that’s fish abuse, so I looked it up and confirmed it - bettas need a lot more room! The fish did NOT look good… he basically was comatose on the floor of the bowl and had a fungal infection. Out of pity for the poor thing, I bought this tank, as well as a heater, a thermometer, and special betta fungus treatment. I proudly returned the fish to the school in January, with special instructions on how to clean the new tank, what temp it should stay at, and how to administer the medicine for his fungus fin. I recently went back to the classroom for a parent-teacher thing and was surprised by how extremely good the fish looked… until the teacher told me that it died anyway, and they replaced it with a look-alike without telling the kids. RIP, Picasso the 1st… at least his last days were spent in warmth and luxury. But hey, the tank looks great! Picasso the 2nd seems very happy in it. My kids tell me that the teacher lets them pick a different color for the light every day, so that’s a hit! ... show more

I bought this for my niece. The first one came broken. I told Amazon right away and it was replaced in 24 hours. So that was really great customer service. The tank is taller the wide which I like and lets it have a few more places to go. 360 view. The filter is super quiet and the replacement cartridges are cheap. For a first tank I was not going crazy. I set it up with cute things she likes for her birthday and let it cycle and the picture speak for itself. She loves it. ... show more

The shipment was really quick. All items were in box, beautiful set up. My shrimp tank looked amazing. Unfortunately, day number 12 my light just stopped working. Yes I had a decision of returning and getting a new item . However, I have baby shrimp in my tank and to locate all was going to be difficult. So I was fortunate to purchase a 7in light to place on under portion of the lid to give the tank light again. And I ended up keeping it. My tank is not even a month and I already had a problem with it. And it’s sad because it’s a beautiful tank. And the quality of the tank is well made. Yet it had a default on the lighting. And it’s sad to say they distributor does not have any light replacements on site. SMH … so if you buy ,and the light goes out just buy a 7 in led light to suction onto the lid… ... show more

That tank is amazing, i wouldnt put more than 3 fish in it though. And also, the light is not great, but i have been using this tank for a few years so that may be the reason why it turns off after a few seconds.
