Description

Battle II spinning reels have Penn's HT-100 Versa-Drag washers keyed into the spool which allows both sides of each drag washer to be used. This gives the Battle II higher max drags, more range, and smoother start ups than the competition. All HT-100 washers are greased with Penn's proprietary PENN grease for longevity.

Even though this Penn reel isn't manufactured in the US, it's still got Penn Quality. Sealed bearings make it perfect for light saltwater use and it's rigid due to it's aluminum frame.- which is important, because you can catch some really large fish in saltwater. If your reel's frame isn't rigid, flexing can cause misalignment of the main and pinion gears- that seriously degrades gear mesh and will destroy them often quite quickly. It's a little heavy, but that heft buys you piece of mind knowing your reel isn't going to self-destruct. I got the 3000 size and had no trouble throwing jigs and spoons for hours, so it's not a boat anchor. I have no doubt it's going to last just as long as the Penn spinning reel I bought back in 1995 ... show more

I bought this reel for salmon fishing in Alaska this summer. I loaded it with 30 lb braided line and could mot be happier with its performance. I caught plenty of salmon and this reel held up great even in saltwater. I lool forward to many more years of use.
