  • Great kayak
Color: Neptune; White
Sprint 100xr is a 10.75 ft kayak perfect for intermediate kayaking. I'm 5ft 4in 150lbs women. Love having a bulkhead and the keel, and lots of storage, but not water tight. Kayak very stable and tracks well and glides nicely. kayak damaged from transportation and Amazon took care of the return but it took 2 more weeks of waiting for the next replacement. 2nd kayak had some gouges on the top deck and the bottom of the kayak had long scrapes but I accepted this as transport negligence. Didn't return because normally kayaks get scrapes on the hull during a launch anyways. So beware kayaks will have damage from transport. I don't think that it was sent by the company as a damaged product. Be ready to help remove kayak from truck the transporter dragged my 41 lb kayak out of the truck and continued dragging it on the ground! ... show more

  • read full review-----at about 15 miles so far
July 2023 115 miles in-UPDATE: Pelican DOES NOT MAKE a rudder for this Kayak. Straight from their mouths! (e-mail) Even though it has indents for it. NOBODY makes a 5 inch wide gudgeon, who designed this ? Check for yourself. The 2 screws on rear black piece cannot be used for gudgeon mount bracket, not sturdy, will rip right out of boat, if attempted. Is not reinforced there and uses wobbly rubber mounts. even pelicans website is off--color is WAY duller than every picture, subdued even. the shape is great, the bottle nose is helpful bc is doesnt care about waves or current it just cuts right through. doesnt care about wind either, so no drift issues. stays put in place when stopped. i river kayak upstream and this did very well in high and fast water. however being a dart, it goes forward with minimal effort, but does not like to turn. so when going downstream, brake and turn early cuz this will push you. has indents for additional rigging such as a rudder. but i dont think it needs one, handles very straight. only downside is the cockpit dry bag lid is a mofo to close. the threads are tight, but it will close. needs a spinner handle. other than that, its nice and thick plastic and doesnt feel flimsy. i travel with this upside down on my roof car rack. straps down easy and doesnt move at all. however, the backrest is taller than the tub, so when upside down make sure not to smash the seat in the rack. i also recommend shoes for the foot pedals, while plastic, has grooves for traction but it will kill your bare foot (and or cheap shoe) it is sharp i also recommend you keep your gear in the rear of the boat and inside. its center of balance is low in the water, when gear is on top using the provided bungees, it quite top heavy and a bit unstable. the compartment in the rear is a good size to accommodate most everything anyway. bow (front) weight seems, so far, to be okay. i was expecting nose-dive, but it didnt/hasnt. there is also a good about of space directly behind the seat within easy sitting reach. ) about 1.5 cu ft. overall i give this a 8.5 - 9 rating. ... show more

  • Great for the money
Color: Neptune; White
The size, weight and maneuverability are amazing. The boat is very comfortable and easy to get in and out of the water. I had to add an extra drain hole/plug in the front to help drain water from the cabin.

  • Outstanding kayak!
Color: Neptune; White
Wonderful kayak! This is like my 4th kayak. Been kayaking since the early 90s. I love my tourer. I just wanted a decent recreational kayak. This kayak is a performance recreational kayak. Premium. Outstanding tracking. Very stable. Slices through waves like they're nothing. Glides with creek and big river swells. I mean this thing is a serious blast. Light weight! Very, very comfortable. Only negative is dumb drain location. It needs to be centered or in the front/ bow area. ... show more

  • Not for Heavy Folk
Short story: I’m 5’9” 270lbs and felt very unstable/ top heavy on flat water. Also my legs didn’t fit comfortably in the cockpit. So I will be returning it after 20 min of paddling. Detailed review: With a rating of 325lbs I though I had a safe buffer but through some research you have to subtract the weight of the boat from that rating. Since this boat weighs 51 lbs it’s usable capacity is 274 lbs so no safety margin. I’d guess some one 225lbs or less would have a better experience. I bought this kayak since it was 2/3s the price of a Wilderness System Pungo 125 or Old Town Loon 126 and seemed to have many of the same features. As I usual with these things you get what you pay for, however overall seems like reasonable value for the money. I am pretty sure I would have kept it if it could handle my weight. So the following critiques are for informational purposes since I had a hard time finding information on this model. I am going to be looking at the Pungo 125 and Loon 126 this weekend and will likely be purchasing on of those two. Currently leaning toward the loon 126 Features review: 4” day hatch: I Put my keys, phone & wallet in the water proof pouch on the console. The pouch felt out after about 10 min. The screw on top of the hatch gives the impression of a heavy duty compartment but it is a thick multilayer plastic bag. This would likely be fine if it was mounted to the console by more then just a thin plastic ring. This allows it to flex and pull out of the bottom of the console with the lid closed tight. Seat: The seat frame is molded in to the boat rather then a separate part as it is on higher end kayaks. I was under the impression is was something closer to those systems by how it was advertised and not finding any you tube reviews discussing it. The biggest surprise was a price of Styrofoam that was under the molded seat. It looks like the throwaway quality stuff that is used as packing material but it is structural after some research. I was only paddling for about 20 min but seat seemed comfortable enough during that time. Adjusting the back rest was difficult while in the boat on the water. Foot rests: Seem solid while in place and are easy to move them toward you with your foot. I found it hard to reach them and push them back while on the water. Drain port: There is a stern drain port for the rear hatch which shouldn’t be needed if the reach hatch is water proof. And no how drain port to drain thereafter from the main cock pit area which inevitably get water in it from getting in and out of the boat drips from paddle ext. Hope this helps! ... show more
