  • Definitely a couple cuts above the included cheapo kayak paddles
The cheapo kayak paddle that came with my kayak was okay but certainly not the best as it was a generic medium length suited for casual paddlers, and it got water inside the ends. So after a lot of review reading I decided on this one. And I was not disappointed. It looks great, is relatively light, and most importantly works perfectly and is the right length for me (5 foot 10 inches tall). I attempt to paddle fast and this does not let me down. Yet it is strong enough to be able to use to give yourself a push away from the shore or if you get into shallow waters and need to push against the bottom with force. It also doesn't get wound up too badly with seaweed and water plants if you are going through an area with a lot of them. There is a nice design indent on the paddles to stop water from dripping onto you if you are paddling hard, and it comes with drip rings also which help a lot. I really like this, much better than other paddles that I have tried and think it is very nearly perfect. Of course the shaft is made of aluminum so it is not the lightest, but without paying a lot more for a carbon shaft this is probably the best one out there. The shaft itself is oval to give your hands a good grip, and it is coated with a textured material which gives you a good grip. When I paddle hard I do wear gloves but for normal casual paddling with others I don't need anything on my hands for grip nor for cushioning. You can't go wrong with these. ... show more

  • Great Paddle!
So as a disclaimer, I’m not a serious kayaker. I have an Ocean Kayak that I use in Hawaii, and I don’t really use the kayak in rough water or rapids or anything. Most of the time, we’re either kayaking along the shore, surfing the kayaks, or scuba diving off the kayaks (super fun). With that said, this paddle has been great! When we bought the kayaks, the shop tried to sell us $200 paddles and insisted that we needed them. Instead we found and bought these, and they’ve held up great. They’re fairly light weight, they’ve put up with our abuse (and the ocean’s), and I don’t have any complaints. I’d definitely buy these again. ... show more

  • Perfect replacement paddle
We lent our kayak paddle to a neighbor and they accidentally gave it away. We purchased this paddle to replace the original and it was a great choice. The paddle is good solid quality and works perfect. A good value for the price and happy to be back on the water.

  • Works great
Great product and fast delivery. 4 stars because the paddles should come with a soft grip to avoid blisters.

  • This is a beautiful paddle made by same company that made my kayak
Sorry to say I have not had a chance to get out on the water with it yet, but it has the right length, weight, and it is vibrant and colorful, I know it will serve me well.

  • Great buy
This product has held up nicely. Great buy for me and my family and our inflatable kayaks. I like how you can adjust the handles different degrees to angle your paddles. Great color too.

  • Decent paddles
So far so good. Pretty standard paddle. Feels comfortable and sturdy but not heavy or overbearing.

  • Revised review
The customer service department of Pelican was immediately responsive to my concern. We bought two sets of 80-inch kayak paddles. Each of the part of the handle that has the holes, not the buttons, appears to have been compressed, sort of smashed in on the sides. It is not perfectly round like the part of the handle with the insert buttons. Their customer service department assured me that they are built that way so that you know where to put your hands. Makes sense. Wish they had put a note in with the packaging so first-time kayak paddle buyers aren't alarmed. ... show more
