  • USA made, Guaranteed for Life, True 70QT capicity, Cheaper than similar High End Coolers, and Better I think.
Color: White/Gray
This Made in the USA Heavy Duty cooler is GREAT. About $100 less expensive than the competition, and not made overseas, as well as having a lifetime warranty as compared to 5 years. This 70 (actual size) QT cooler is quite bulky and large. We used it to store frozen hamburger, about 30# of it, and other stuff, while we were on vacation for 20 days, camping up and down the California coast, temperatures ranging from the mid 70's to the century mark the whole trip, and the hamburger on the bottom of the cooler was still good when we got home, although it had defrosted almost completely by that time. We did add ice to this 3-4 times during the trip, that is 3-4 total bags of 8# ice, and stored other items in it as well, it was opened several times every day, and by the middle of the trip (7-10 days in) it was not full of food to the top any more and that's when we started adding ice. Up until then it was just the frozen hamburger keeping it cold. The bottle opener was pretty much useless, there are 100's of ways to open bottles, and everyone has one, so this feature was unused. I like the latches, they are secure, hold the lid tightly and firmly, and are easy to use, especially if you have only one hand free. The large roomy handles made it really easy to lift in and out of my box trailer with 2 people. The garden hose thread drain was useful for draining out ice and not getting nasty water where you don't really want it. I locked this with a padlock a few times, and found this feature useful as it was being stored most of the time in by open box trailer. I did not use the tie downs as they are kinda small and you have to thread your tie downs through under the lid, it would be nice if you could just put a hook through them. The can holes in the top of the cooler are deep and work great to keep your can or bottle very stable, it is nice that they can be rinsed out cleanly because of the deep drains in them too. We camped in Yosemite, and had this in the back of our Suburban. This was a mistake, as a bear could easily have gotten into the vehicle and tried to get to the food in the chest. One of the Site Hosts, told us that we were lucky. Being Bear resistant doesn't matter much to the park service, this cooler is NOT bear certified, and even if it was, as it is the same design as the ones that are, the parks require it to be locked in a Bear Box. Do not think that this is good enough to not use the park provided bear protection in Yosemite, or Yellowstone. You still have to put it in a Steel Bear Box, which would have been nearly impossible because of it's large size. If you are looking for a one size fits all solution to your traveling food and beverage storage needs, I would strongly recommend looking at the smaller boxes. This 70QT box is too big for daily use in the back of your truck, unless you intend to throw a party every day. ... show more

  • One of the best coolers I’ve owned
Color: Grey/Green
Bought this cooler for a trip to Canada. Cooled it with 2 bags of ice on the way up there ands it kept ice for 5 days straight. Temperature was in the upper 60’s all week. Couldn’t recommend this cooler anymore then I already have to friends and family. Well worth the money!

  • Great cooler
Color: White/Gray
Really enjoying this cooler. Halfway through a two week excursion and it's holding up great. Had issues last year with a cheap and smaller cooler that wasn't nearly as insulated. We precooled this one before adding anything and it's now on its sixth day before needing more ice. Could probably go another day or so. And this was with 3 days in Zions over 100 degree days. We're now going into the Colorado backcountry where there's no services for miles and I am confident this will not let me down. Will update after the trip. ... show more

  • This thing is a tank!
Color: Grey/Green
This cooler is a tank. Made very solid! I ordered a 5lb. ice pack with mine. We took it out this weekend, and filled it up pretty high with ice. After two days most of the ice was still there. I have it in my garage with ice still in it. Filled it on Friday at noon. It's now Monday evening and I think there's a third of the ice remaining. I imagine by tomorrow or Wednesday I might need to put some fresh ice on top, but I'm confident that there's still going to be ice in it by Friday at the one week mark. Taking it back out again next weekend. I also bought the Pelican marine locks for it. I'm not sure if Amazon sells them or not, but you have a padlock for the cooler, and an eight ft. cable lock to prevent someone from taking it, or a bear if they're strong enough. It probably weighs about 70lbs. with ice, ice pack and food and drinks in it. My wife and I lifted it into the truck bed with no problem. It might be a little hard for one person loading it into a vehicle. It's not that the weight is that bad, it's just awkward to handle. Right now I'd say I love this thing!!! No more going for ice every 24 hours. ... show more

  • BEAR PROOF CONFIRMED
UPDATE: Lured from the woods by the falling temperature and the fragrant gourmet cheese inside, a curious black bear spent about 15 minutes attempting to open my 70qt cooler. I was awakened at 2am in my camper to the sound of him dragging it across the gravel camp site. He was completely undeterred by my flash light and verbal protests, instead focused on opening this trove of edible delights. Unsuccessful, he moved on to an easier meal, I found out the next day he located a lesser cooler a few camp sites away and absolutely shredded it and consumed all contents. The only damage sustained by my cooler was a few scratches, bite marks, and a couple broken eggs. Original review: This cooler is awesome. Once you pre-chill it and add mostly cold items, it will hold ice for days. Remember, a cooler only insulates, it doesn't refrigerate. Putting warm items in will increase the overall temperature of the interior and melt your ice. Don't drain all the water or open it too often, I like to pack it with meal items and try to only open when it's time to cook. This gets me the most life out of my ice. I use a cheaper cooler for beer and drinks that will get opened all the time. I added the basket to keep certain things that don't have water tight packages out of the water. ... show more
