Description

Pelican Protector Cases are made with Copolymer Polypropylene, using an open cell core and solid wall construction, which is stronger and lighter that the completion. You can tell its a Pelican case by the distinctive "twin-ribbed" top surface. Stainless steel pins are used for hinges and handles. The new Double-Throw latches are much easier to open. From the Manufacturer ANATOMY OF A PELICAN CASE Ultimate Equipment ProtectionFor over 30 years Pelican has built a reputation for manufacturing the toughest cases in the world. As a matter of fact, we invented the category. Over these years we've seen our cases used for some fairly crazy activities...and important ones too. Pelican Cases have been thrown out of helicopters in Iraq, floated through frigid fjords in Norway and rolled over by SUVs in Tanzania. With only a few scratches to show on the outside, contents inside are left unscathed. These are minor details for major bragging rights. And that is really what it's all about. Getting your gear from point A to point B in the condition it's meant to be in: intact and functional. Because it might contain a large format camera that will shoot next month's magazine cover or a heart defibrillator that could save a person's life, you can't put a price on it. Stronger by Design Pelican Cases are made with a proprietary combination of homo co-polymers, using an open cell core and solid wall construction, which is stronger and lighter than a solid core wall. Stainless steel pins are used in hinges and handles. Double-Throw Latches Stainless steel hasp protectors are a Pelican exclusive. The Double-Throw latches are smarter and easier to open: it's the classic "C" clamp design with a secondary movement that works like a pry bar to start the release and offers plenty of leverage to open with a light pull.Watertight The secret is the tongue and groove fit with a polymer o-ring acting as a waterproof seal.Nameplate Custom engraved nameplates are available for a nominal fee.Cool Under Pressure Automatic Pressure Equalization Valve releases built-up air pressure while keeping water molecules out, resulting in a watertight case that is even easier to open.Reinforced Padlock Protectors Stainless steel reinforced padlock protectors provide added strength and extra security against cutting and theft. Easy Roller Stainless steel ball bearing wheels last longer and ride smoother. The nylon hub adjacent to the stainless steel is made to resist heat. The result is less wear and tear on the polyurethane wheel.

  • Great camera storage.

I used to be a hater of people who put their gear in pelican cases. I thought they were overdoing it. Now I see why they’re highly recommended! So much better than stuffing my gear in a bag.

The media could not be loaded. I take this thing on long hikes with very expensive glass Inside it’s been dropped and rolled down a small hill, everything is fine, it’s been up against the inside of a tent during the rain getting soaked all night, everything is okay, buying a new one for another pipe right now ... show more

  • Perfect / Secure
Color: Black
I bought a cheaper case from a different manufacturer first that explicitly stated "The Cabela's Armor Xtreme Molded Pistol Case has been modified so that the hinge pins cannot be removed when the case is closed." When it arrived this was not true and the hinge pins could be easily pushed out, while closed/locked, with a paper clip. That makes that case completely useless for secure airline travel. I learned my lesson and bought this Pelican like I should have done in the first place. This Pelican case arrived yesterday and it is perfect. The hinges use a one way pin that is difficult to remove without time/tools and the case closes and locks securely. This size is a bit large for transporting a single full frame handgun but I wanted the option of storing one handgun, three mags, and two boxes of ammunition (check your airline regulations) or two full frame handguns with magazines. The 1400 fits a full size M&P9, three magazines, and two 20 round boxes of ammunition with plenty of padding to spare... probably enough to include a light. If you want to go smaller, the 1200 will fit a full frame with two mags nicely but with no room for ammunition. FYI : A 38mm padlock was the sweet spot for the size that would lock this case but with as little wiggle room as possible. When locked, attempting to open the case will only allow it to open a few millimeters - only exposing the inner ridge of the case. So, no worries about anyone trying to pull something small out through the crack. I'm sold on Pelican from now on. ... show more

  • BIG case, but great for DSLR / full frame mirrorless cameras or lenses
Color: Black
Picture notes: the stack and side by side are 1150, iM2050 and 1400 (smallest to largest), then the 1400 with Sony A9 and 24-70/2.8 & 70-200/2.8 GM lenses, finally, the wonderful Dakine Mission Pro 25L, which will just barely swallow this Pelican 1400 case, your ski goggles, and some lunch if you eat light. On to the review. I would not exactly call this case 'small', but if you're needing to travel with a full frame camera or some lenses, and don't need a big roller, this is a great option. I have what is arguably the largest option Pelican makes that you can carry on a plane without risk, the AIR 1535, but I don't always need to carry my whole setup. Sometimes I'm content to stick my primary body (Sony A9) in my bag and take a few lenses, and this case fits that bill great. My pics are mostly to give you a view of the size; ultimately I didn't really like the pick and pluck foam fit, so ordered custom from mycasebuilder. I'll try to get some more recent pics with that installed, but you get the idea. The case's inner dimensions are large enough to adequately protect two big lenses, or a body and big lens, some batteries, etc. ... show more

  • Great product and good deal
Color: Black
I have not used this yet. I bought it mainly for my camera gear, but I might use it to transport my guns. I have other pelican cases and I love them. They are very sturdy and gives me piece of mind that my stuff is secure. This one is a good size. I have not put anything in it. The only draw back is the foam that came with it. I might get some different foam and just cut it out myself. I have used this type of foam before and you can never get it right. It just depends on what you are putting in it. So overall this case is great. Just keep the o-ring clean and make sure you don't close it when there is something hanging out like a camera strap. You can damage the edge and then you will have trouble closing it and getting a good seal. Luckily I have not test the water tightness of this or my other cases. This case was on sale when I bought it so that was even better. I should really give it 5 stars, but the foam is the only thing that takes away. You can buy it with other stuff inside, I would even rather buy it with nothing inside if I could save a few dollars. ... show more

  • Perfect
Color: Black
This is actually my second Pelican case. I bought this specifically to travel on planes with my Glock 19. To ease everything, not only do I have the gun unloaded but I keep the slide locked back and put a chamber flag in it. This is especially good because I leave one empty magazine in the gun so this insures safety because the gun can't physically fire with the slide locked back and a chamber flag in it so it eases tensions. The case is deep enough that I can stack two magazines in the same spot. There is also enough room for a suppressor (if I'm traveling somewhere that allows them). This thing is durable. You can throw it, kick it, hit things with it and it will hold up. You can spray with a hose, throw it in the pool, etc, and it will protect your stuff. This means that it will survive molestation when it's in your checked luggage and they are literally throwing it into a pile with other checked luggage. The holes on the outside are large enough for a wide variety of TSA approved locks. I have absolutely no complaints about this case. ... show more
