Peet's Major Dickason's Blend Dark Roast Coffee is the roast that put Peet's Coffee on the map. A loyal customer of our original Berkeley store, retired army sergeant Key Dickason, brought the idea for our most beloved blend to Mr. Peet in 1969. Intrigued, our founder worked with the local gourmand and coffee aficionado to refine it. They sampled countless combinations before arriving at what is now our all-time bestseller. The result was so good, Alfred Peet decided naming it after his friend wasn't enough. Dickason's rich, complex blend also deserved a promotion from sergeant to major. Major Dickason's combines the best origin coffees from the world's premier growing regions, each imparting its distinctive regional characteristics while still effortlessly rounding into a smooth, balanced cup. Over the years, it has become the coffee that epitomizes Peet's: flavorful, deeply roasted, and unsurpassingly satisfying. But for us, "Major D" is just like a relationship with an old friend. When visiting my aunt and offered a cup of coffee my aunt only had Major Dickinsons blend kcups. I drink 2 cups of coffee almost every day (2 kcups each time so 2 double cups). For some reason I chose no creamer, which 1tbsp of mocha creamer my norm. I drank this black. I suddenly became a fan of black dark roast based on this blend alone (Inused to do just mild/house roast). I have been through boxes and boxes of this. I still throw in some other brands on the weekends but this is my staple. Its inoffensive for non dark coffee drinkers too because the roast doesnt make you feel like its burnt or heavily charred. Its cocoa, earthy, and spice that gives it the flavor. The profile says smoke, but maybe I attribute that to something else because its not an attribute thats strong to me. ... show more

Peets is now my favorite! i my Starbucks Americano hot coffee, it has espresso shots, and i ask for 1 extra shot to be added to it. Peets is just the perfect flavor, very satisfying. I had been buying the same dark-roast K-Cups on autopilot for way too long, finally got bored, and did the completely reasonable thing: fell down a ridiculous coffee-research rabbit hole looking for my replacement. I wanted something bold and full-bodied but smoother and more flavorful, especially since I add half-and-half and don’t want the coffee to disappear underneath it. That research kept pointing me toward Peet’s Major Dickason’s, so here we are with a 75-count box and a fresh disruption to my caffeine routine. The blend is described as dark, rich, and earthy with some spice, which is exactly the lane I was hunting for. I’m also sticking with smaller 6–8 oz brews rather than trying to stretch one pod into a giant mug of brown disappointment.
