  • Customer service
This portable garage was not difficult to assemble. Did take two people to actuate it to the ground and put the tarp on. Nicely made. The biggest comment is that it got damaged during a heavy wind and rain storm. A branch came through the top and bent two of the major poles and ripped the cover. No fault of the company or product. We ordered a new one to get the two broken tubes and then decided to contact customer service to see if we could replace the broken ones. Had several conversations with Jenna, who in turn sent out two of the tube free of charge. To deal with them is a pleasure and the service is impeccable. My thanks to Peak Top and Jenna for such a good experience. ... show more

  • If anchored properly, it's awesome. Customer service is fantastic.
Size: 12'x20' Window Side Color: White
TLDR: Worked great until the wind body-slammed it upside down, it took the hit surprisingly well, customer service was excellent and quickly sent replacement parts. The words "heavy duty" and "severe weather conditions" plus the positive reviews are what led us to buy this particular carport. We live in a very windy area that gets a fair amount of snow, so I knew we had to really make sure it was anchored, so I bought some additional stuff to try to really keep it locked down - more weight bags, stainless steel U-bolts to connect to beefier ground anchors - these things: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08LZL156F/. It was very easy to assemble, but where we had to put it made it very challenging to get the left side anchored as well as I would have liked. We got some extra weight bags to help hold it down, and it worked fantastically the entire winter (see picture). In the spring some runoff softened the ground and a very strong gust of wind picked up the carport and because the right side was still anchored it flipped the whole thing on its head, and it really looked like it had been completely trashed. Upon further inspection, all the tarp-like material was fine and most of the metal parts were fine - we had a total of 10 parts that had been damaged - 3 of one type of tube, 3 of another, 2 of another, and one each of two types of connectors. We disassembled everything and put it away so no further damage would happen. As winter approached again we were trying to figure out our options and I decided to try to contact the company. This was the hardest part of the process since I couldn't find any contact info for "Peaktop Outdoor" online. I eventually saw something on a review of one of their other products - it's shipped by "Overwhelming," and the reviewer mentioned something about going through Amazon to get to their customer service. I eventually figured this out (and feel slightly embarrassed that I hadn't noticed this before). If you look at the top of the item listing, you'll see the name of the product (and some other stuff) then a horizontal line, then the price (and some other stuff) and another horizontal line, then a section that is easy to gloss over called "Delivery and Support." The 3rd icon there ("Customer Support") opens a window that gives you a "Contact us" link. I used the Amazon built-in chat (which is more like an e-mail messaging thing) and explained the situation. 12 hours later I got a response from a person named Jenna with an image of the parts list and was asked to identify what was damaged. The next day I figured out the quantities of each part and sent that info back and about 12 hours later I was given instructions on what Jenna needed in order to send replacement parts. I asked for clarification because the process was a little unconventional, but Jenna easily answered my question and in short order the replacement parts were on their way. Jenna sent me a FedEx tracking link and the evening the parts were delivered she sent another note to verify that I'd gotten everything and that it was correct. I checked out what had been received and it was spot on. We have yet to set it up for this winter but feel confident that if we can get it anchored equally well on both sides that it will serve our needs as well as it did last year. One last note on the flipping - the wind here is stupid strong. We were watching when the carport was picked up - we had full, extra-large weight bags on all 8 legs and the wind STILL picked the whole thing up. ... show more

  • better than the average carport kit, heavy duty??? maybe not
Size: 12'x20' No Side Color: Gray
This 12x20 carport kit went together very easily with 2 people in about an hour. all parts fit well. arrived in 3 boxes undamaged. the poles are not swaged, but have "buttons" that snap into an oval hole in the next pole. the pole set was paper thin, maybe 18Ga galv steel at most. likely 20 ga. the corner connectors were much heavier, maybe 14 ga. all in all it seems like it should hold up. the trap was thin like all of them, maybe a little thicker than a menards blue tarp? not much. I didn't grab a caliper. the only thing that was really lacking on this kit was the ropes and bungees. very low quality ropes and bungees. I don't expect they will last more than a year, maybe 2 before needing to be replaced. All in all it came in good shape, went together easily, tarp fit nice and tight. even looks pretty decent. 4.5 out of 5 for me. definitely better than the big box stores 10x20 shelters, at almost double the price it should be... ... show more

  • Solid Materials and Impressive for the Price
Size: 10'x20' No Side Color: Green
This is the 4th canopy tent that I have bought in this style, but this brand/manufacturer finally got it right. Frame is made of thicker metal tubing with spring clips that keep the connections in place. The others don't have this and, unless you reinforce with metal screws, they fall apart at the first wind guest. This tent also has reinforced bars at the peaks and corners, so it's more stable. The feet are also metal and bolted to the legs (the other tents have plastic feet). And, the canopy stretches tight and hooks to the bottom of each leg, causing it to be more sturdy in the wind with the weight distributed more evenly along the sides. I also liked that the canopy is attached with bungee cords around the top of each peak and along the side rails, another feature the other tents I've purchased didn't have, so the canopy would shift over time. It was $100-$150 less than my previous purchases, but much better made. Since it is sitting on gravel, we purchased more heavy duty tent stakes that screw into the rock with a impact driver. (Search for tent stakes for mountain climbers if you'd like to do the same.) I'm very happy with this purchase and will be replacing our other canopy tents with this brand in Spring. Heads up that it arrives in two boxes. Sometimes the second box arrives a day or so after the first. The people manning their customer service inbox are prompt and very nice. (Thank you, Pearl!) Update: Upgrading from 4 to 5 stars. We just had our first wind storm. This canopy tent didn't sway more than an inch in the wind. Sturdy as a rock! ... show more
