  • My cat has gone from prince to king
Pattern Name: 34 panels
Honestly this playpen set is incredible. I'm fresh out of college and adopting a (now) 14 week old dumped kitten. His name is Stampy, and he's both a sweetheart and a menace. He's very snuggly, but he loves to chew on my charging cords and as I work full time and can't always be there to supervise him, I needed to get a proper playpen instead of letting him roam about my room for now. Being fresh out of college I have a very low budget, and this fit the bill perfectly. It's a very good bang for your buck. I got one of the larger sets for myself with my own money and built the playpen you see in my first three images. For what I needed for a 10 week old kitten, it was perfect. It was enough room for him to spend 8 hours a day while I was at work, and to sleep at night without causing me worry. My mom helped me buy a second of the larger sets, and I built the playpen you see in the second set of three images. And that's what he has right now. Stampy is currently 14 weeks old, and outgrew the first set. He's about 5lbs now, whereas he was about 2lbs when I first got him. Adding sets together is super easy and I still have leftover parts afterwards. None that I can inherently use with my current setup, but they are helpful to have as replacement parts nonetheless. :] There are two things that drop my review from 5 stars to 4. Number 1 being that the connector pieces tend to break. You are given a TON of them, way more than you need, but do attempt to be gentle when connecting pieces together as they can snap. And number 2, there is only a small pet door provided. I had to create my own door big enough for me to get in to clean Stampy's litterbox out of two panels and zipties. I keep it closed using chip clips so as to not damage the connectors and snap any bits off that Stampy could find, chew and possibly choke on. It's not ideal, but it does work. So if you are willing to create your own door through whatever means works for you, this is perfect. Otherwise, I'd look elsewhere for one with a door for a human to get through. I frankly don't go into his playpen unless I am cleaning or restocking food/water, that is *his* space first and foremost so I try to avoid going in. But there are times that necessitate entry so it needs to be possible somehow. However, the build is incredibly sturdy once put together. Stampy loves to climb up onto the roof during free roam time, and sit and watch birds out the window when he's not in his cat tree haha. And it has supported his weight very well, along with the weight of boxes, food bags, and misc stuff that I set down on top since I can't reach my shelves much anymore haha. I've not had a single issue with the roof breaking on him. Stampy also has a habit of scaling the walls when he's in the playpen and I'm not, either because it's bedtime or because he's in timeout for biting me. And I've never had a single issue of things breaking when he does that. I don't know if that will last as he gets bigger, but so far it's done well. Little man is Also an escape artist. I put together gerryrigged playpens with spare parts I had around the house before getting this product and he always found a way to escape them. Even with the lack of a real locking mechanism for the pet door, he's not been able to escape once. The pet door swings up and down, and is kept close by a length of wire that sits in front of the door, connected to rods on both sides and preventing gravity from pulling the door down or pets from knocking it down. A smart pet could figure it out very quickly, but so far Stampy has yet to put two and two together lol Also, a note of caution, that does not affect my review but that folks should know for planning configurations. The roof panels are not the same size as the wall panels. As shown in my last image, the wall panels are rectangular whereas the roof panels are square. This only became an issue for me when I was attempting to build an "upper level" where I could hang a hammock so Stampy could see out my only window while I'm gone. The hammock needed a 2x2 space to work best, and I could only make a 2x1 space with the panels I had. I wanted to make a 2x2 using roof panels to replace some of my 'missing' wall panels (I received all panels provided, I just didn't have enough for my plan). And that did not work. Someone else mentioned that you are only limited by your imagination when building this playpen. I would like to agree and add on that you are only limited by your imagination, and how many sets you purchase. As one of the larger sets was more than enough when Stampy was 2lbs, but now that he's almost 5lbs one set was much too small for him and an expansion with a second set was required. So that is something to keep in mind. But overall this is an incredible playpen if you're on a budget and need something you can customize to your space. It's very straightforward to put together, I was able to do it alone and didn't even use the provided hammer. And it's a lot of fun to put hammocks and other things inside and watch your kitty explore. I had a lot of fun putting this together and getting it all set up for my boy and he seems to enjoy it as well (so long as he can go in on his terms and not because it's bedtime Lol). ... show more

  • Wanted to like
Pattern Name: 34 panels
Really wanted to like this. I love the idea and it's a sturdy design. Solid metal panels which don't have any give to them. However, here is the flaws and why I'm sending it back. -Needs more entrances Cleaning a litterbox inside requires either lifting the entire unit or struggling to even scoop one out. A second entry panel or one big one where you can work in the litterbox, would help this tremendously. Since you can't buy more pieces without ordering another pack, this is flawed and will give you trouble with time. -Roof tiles are not for cats to walk on They show you can but, these things are super thin and almost like tent material to the point cats will indeed puncture them within the first time they jump onto it. I can see these things being torn apart too. Just so weak. -Design isn't flexible enough I wanted to set the panels on a side but found they can't because the junction points only work one way. So you are limited in this design to vertical and no customization outside of that. Really, want to like it. Needed something like this to house a feral cat during an adjustment period. Going to have to go another design. Simply isn't going to meet the needs I have. If you are looking at this and considering it, I wouldn't say no, but I would say, really think about it and about how your cat behaves. You'll get your answer. ... show more

  • Works great for small size adult cats
Pattern Name: 34 panels
Easy to put together and stable with the use of the zip ties, I put it together as 2 panels wide× 4 panels long x 2 panels tall and used the empty frame piece and extra solid color 12x12 piece to make a small platform. Perfect and spacious for 1-2 cats and can be expanded easily to be comfortable and spacious for 3-4 cats. Only downside is that extra panels for expansion can't be bought separate. ... show more

  • Only limited by your imagination
Pattern Name: 34 panels
We have ordered 3 of the large sets and we may order more. It is like a pet pen version of an erector set. You are only limited by your imagination. We have been able to make a large playpen with a divider for our 2 puppies using this set as well as an additional potty pen. We have also used this set to barricade off parts of the house when they are running around to keep them from getting to and chewing things they shouldn't. I don't really think this would be useful for larger dogs or puppies without maybe building some kind of structure to secure the panels to, even my smaller pomeranian has been able to climb out causing us to have to be to little more creative, but ultimately we have adapted and built her side to be escape proof. I really like the versatility of this set, and I have even thought of other ways to use the panels after the pups no longer need them. Unlike some of the other reviews I didn't find the need to have directions, the pieces are very easy to assemble and you can build just about whatever kind of enclosure you want as long as you purchase enough pieces. The only issue is once you build the pen it cannot be easily moved without it coming apart, zip ties are also included which would help with that problem to some extent, but we didn't want the pups to be chewing on the plastic zip ties and chance them choking if one came loose. We have ordered stainless zip ties to use instead but they haven't arrived yet. I would definitely recommend this set to anyone with a creative mind that needs an enclosure for a small pet. ... show more

  • Easy to assemble & good customization - wish there were different quantity options
Pattern Name: 15 panels
My 7 week old Pomeranian figured out how to climb out within a day. I am well aware it states to get the larger quantity panel option but I would have liked to have an option to not be forced to buy more than double the quantity of pieces just to be able to build a roof. Besides that assembly is easy and straightforward. A small enclosure was made in the house for sleeping and the remaining panels were turned into a potty area on the balcony. ... show more
