I bought this for my cat so he cat sit on the patio with me. My cat is always supervised while in the pen. It is not escape proof for dogs or cats without making several alterations. The pen is fairly sturdy once the cover is attached and the stakes are installed. Looks nice. It has a cover to block the sun. The instructions could have been a lot better, but overall it was fairly easy to assemble. It is a nice pen for a smaller dog or a cat. It does have a few flaws: The door has two latches, but a cat or a clever dog could get them opened fairly easily. It’s easy enough to secure the door with a small chain or bungee cord, if you needed to. The fasteners that attach the panels together tend to flex and move while the pen is being assembled and when it is moved. I recommend having at least two people to move the pen and to do it slowly to avoid stressing the fasteners. Once the cover and stakes are used, it is fairly sturdy. If you wanted to make it more sturdy, some zip ties could be used as an extra means of securing the panels. A longer stake could be used to give added stability, if needed. Panels do not fit together tightly which allows them to move and skew. Locks to gate and rotating bowel gate are not sturdy as well.

Haven’t used it yet, but my little guy is an escape artist with baby gates and I don’t have a door to my basement. I work 8 hrs a day and with transport time, he’s probably in a crate 9 hours a day. I bought this to give him more room to roam around during the day. He’s got a great lateral jump and a strong kick, so the octagon gates with the fabric top wouldn’t have stood a chance. Still fairly sturdy even without the stakes since I’m using it indoors. Didn’t put on the food bowls and took me just about 2 hours to set up by myself. ... show more

    • Will rust quickly and the my Corgi's weight was enough to bend the brackets.

Over all this product is okay. After a month of ownership the brackets that hold the sectiosn together are all bent. It's still "holding" it together but it is not ideal. The "roof" of this product never sat well on it, could have been better with an extra inch of fabric to actually pull it down over the edges. The support structure of the roof has already started aggressively rusting at either end of the tubes. For an outdoor structure, they did not rust proof them adequately in my opinion. The ground pins were lost pretty quickly, can't really blame it on them, but I would have liked to see to see them a little easier to put into the ground and pull out. (Next time I'll need to spray paint them suckers orange or something too.) For it's price point it's a great product, but not a 5 start product, will likely require to figure out some after market solution to keep it working. ... show more

Fast assembly with two people. Panels are attached by metal hardware (two plates, a screw, spacer and wingnut), the ceiling tarp is attached by four metal arms and elastic/plastic tarp connectors fastened to tops of panels. I attached an additional tarp around the backwall for more sunshade/wind protection. My puppy has chewed off the original tarp connectors for the roof and the ones holding on the additional tarp I added. I bought a big box or tarp connectors I go out and reattach new ones as needed. She chews through those too. Lol Put it in the backyard for unsupervised puppy containment so I can peacefully clean house without her barking at the broom, mop, and especially the vacuum. ... show more
