We actually bought this house for our 2 blue heelers. But, before we could even use it, our female had a litter of pups. When they got too big for our whelping box in the house, we decided this would be a great place for them to live outside until we could find homes for them. My husband and son-in-law built a pen, of sorts, to go around it. Worked out perfectly. The pups actually house-broke themselves living in it. They would never go poddy in the house or on the deck. They would run out into the 'yard' area and go poddy. So, when we gave one to our daughter at 7 weeks old. She kept him in the crate when not at home and at night when he was sleeping. But, as soon as he had to go poddy during playtime in the house, he went straight to the door and whimpered to go outside. Lol... Love this doghouse! Very easy to clean and access while the pups were inside. Gave them good shelter in bad weather. Only note is that the wood is pretty thin so if you have very large heavy dogs or a chewer, it might not hold up. But, otherwise, for us it is working out great. :) ... show more

Oh my goodness where do I start?? This has an easy to clean feature with both sides of the roof opening for convenient access. The size is perfect for small to medium dogs. I have 2 dogs, one is 12 pounds and the other is 25 pounds. The porch is beyond darling and the quality is excellent. The assembly took a couple hours, and honestly I think it would have been easier if I didn't have 2 guys trying to help me šŸ¤£ they refused to look at the instructions and were very stubborn. So I definitely advise having assistance from someone who you know works well with others. I bet I could have put it together in an hour by myself. It helps to have your own power tools. My dogs loved their house and this is the only one I have ever seen to have 2 separate rooms. They can in and out from inside. I appreciated the rubber screen mosquito protection, however I don't really have mosquitos in my area so I taped both sides of them up inside. I found some great thermal warming dog pads I lined the floors with. I don't get snow where I live so I can't speak to harsh weather conditions but it sure does feel nice and sturdy. so this house is very large and is very nice and looks really nice in the back yard, however the wood is a soft & cheap wood and as hubby was essembing this dog house he said I don't see this dog house holding up very long, I'm really disappointed with this because it wasn't cheap and its made very cheaply, I may just use this as a templet and build a new one..we are very disapponted ... show more

    • Has its faults

The PawHut doghouse has its faults. Mainly the wood that was used feels like pine so thinner parts are more fragile than I am comfortable with. I did have to repair a few pieces because FedEx wasn't very nice to box 2/2 but this really isn't a fault of the product. Before assembly I treated every piece with a coating of Thompson's Water Seal. Then I sprayed bedliner on the under side of the floor parts and on top of the roof peak part. Finally, I primered and painted the black trim parts since the paint/varnish seemed pretty thin on those parts. I also removed the plastic curtains and put them under one of the roof panels overnight to flatten out creases from where they folded during packing/shipping. It's a lot of prep work before even assembling the house but I think it will be worth it as the extra prep should greatly lengthen the life of the house. I have even thought about applying a faux brick laminate to the outside walls for extra protection and to make it match my actual house. ... show more

Horrible instructions and good splits easily. The flooring of the house did not even fit once I got it put together so I have to construct my own floorboard. The legs do not mount on properly to the stand either. It is a very cheap version and not worth the price. I would highly recommend going with another product. ... show more

    • Difficult Build, Low Quality, and Disappointing

I saw the reviews and against my better judgment I still purchased the dog house hoping the reviews werenā€™t accurate. Well, they were. The dog house kit is difficult to build. Luckily my husband and I are moderately experienced in building, however this is definitely not user friendly and not for the everyday ā€œIKEA builderā€, alignment took longer than need because there were no guides on the wood. Also the wood definitely spit multiple times in multiple places and I can assure you we were very careful and mindful with any pressure. The materials are low quality and the wood is untreated. The final build is not sturdy and overall this has become a huge hassle not worth the results. Now I need to paint the dog house exterior with a sealant and I am dreading it. This is not for the novice builder. ... show more
