    • It works! Miracle formula! BUT..
For reference: Combination skin type - oily/dry Age - mid 30s Acne - not severe and occasional outbreaks, maybe hormonal, not sure Situation: had an acne outbreak specifically around my cheeks, and forehead. Redness all over my face. I bought this product on a whim and IT WORKED for me! Lifesaver! I was starting a new job and I had recently broken out more than usual. I ordered the product on a Friday and received next day, Saturday. I used it first on Saturday and by Sunday morning I noticed my face was not as bumpy. My acne decreased DRAMATICALLY that day. I used it again on Sunday night, on Monday, my first day at my new job, my acne was gone. I know it sounds too good to be true, but it’s a true story. I had been using cureology and that worked until it didn’t. I also used CERAVE cream and that didn’t really do the trick either. Out of desperation, I tried this miracle working product. I still had/have redness, and I’m not too worried about that because the makeup takes care of it. I’m so grateful to have found this product just in time. Overall, It’s a great product. The size of the container is big and you really only need a THIN amount over your face/affected area. It is lightweight, yet powerful formula. Do not over do it… read below. BUT… DRYNESS: one downside is that my skin dried out, more around the mouth/cheek areas. So after two days, since it worked so well, I stopped using it. I have been using a moisturizer at night and morning to help, and it has been better. I’m only going to use it as needed. STUNG: I also noticed that when I applied moisturizer, primer, or face wash, my face burned a little. Not horribly or unbearable, but I could feel the tingling sensation. Again, this is why I stopped using it after day two and will only use as needed. As with all products, you have to find what works for YOUR specific type of skin. Thankfully, this worked for me. I’ve loved & tolerated well everything I’ve tried from Paula’s Choice — the Clinical 1% Retinol and Skin Perfecting 2% BHA liquid exfoliator are staples in my regimen, so I thought this would be fine. I put this on my face during my AM regimen and spent the whole day with a happy complexion. I washed it off, slept the night, and got out of the shower the next morning with a gnarly rash on my face. It was super sore, leathery, bumpy, red, scaly, and super itchy. At first, I blamed it on a tea tree oil cream I tried for about 20min the night before. But just to double check, I swiped some of this on the side of my neck, and sure enough within 12hrs it was itching and burning with the rest of my face. I washed it off thoroughly and slathered on extra-strength hydrocortisone cream (which stung like nobody’s business), following up with a super-soothing barrier cream to lock in moisture & prevent it from cracking. It’s been 3.5 days and the rash is still there, but it is fading. I have to keep my regimen really really simple & gentle and avoid actives until it clears up completely. Of course I am super bummed out about this, but it’s not the product’s fault, which is why I gave it 3 stars. At least I was able to return it, and now I know that I don’t react well to benzoyl peroxide. My skin is sensitive to some things, but I’ve never had a reaction like this before, so I never had a reason to patch test any new product (until now). Remember that even though this is a low concentration, benzoyl peroxide is still a strong ingredient with a relatively high sensitivity rate. So I highly recommend doing a small patch test on your neck before slathering this on your whole face. Reactions like contact dermatitis and chemical allergies can be delayed as long as a week after the first use, so at the very least, leave the patch untouched and watch it closely for 24-48hrs. I tend to break out when working out. This has cleared me up, better then the stuff the dermatologist perscribed to me. I have both version regular and extra strength. The regular does not dry me out, but the extra strength does. So I swap out between them. But the product works great just give it time, took about 2 weeks of use for me to clear up. ... show more
