  • Nicer than the ones you find in stores, but affordable!
Color: 72 Landscapes Colors
I've never been a fan of oil pastels. For one thing, they make a huge mess with these little peelings everywhere, like eraser stubble on steroids, and they got all over my hands and in my nails. Those were the kind you found in the craft stores or at Walmart. Recently, I heard lots of artists on YouTube talking about this brand and comparing it to the ones that are expensive. They mentioned another brand, which I won't mention here, and it seemed like most artists I watched were more impressed with these. I decided I wanted to try them out. What I found is that you can't really compare these with the ones you get in the store. It's like a whole 'nuther level of quality. These seem to have a lot more oil in them, and they are very smooth and blend well, which means, no more peels everywhere! Don't put them close to a heat source. They come in many sets, so I did a comparison spreadsheet to make sure I was getting the most colors. At first I got the 50 set and this one. Then I felt that I didn't have enough pink for flowers. I needed a certain color of pink, and these only had about 3 pinks total. So, I got the macaron set, which does give me a larger range of pinks. I still haven't found a certain shade of green, so I may be ordering single colors in Sennelier or another brand to supplement these or to replace colors that are used up since this brand doesn't come in individual colors. Still, it's a good product if you are new to oil pastels or don't want to shell out the money for the expensive brands. ... show more

  • As a beginner, I enjoy these a lot!
Color: 72 Landscapes Colors
(Images included were done mostly with this set with some darker colors supplemented from other sets, but bulk of the work was with this set) This is my first foray into higher quality oil pastels, and I find myself quite enjoying them. I noticed they can be more difficult to work with in high humidity, they got stickier and gummier. I like this range of colors which is why I grabbed this palette, though one thing I did have trouble with is the lack of a lemon yellow, and dark values in general. I know this is a seascape palette, but I cant really find a reason why there should be several warm yellows and no neutral lemon or lake-esque bright yellow. I ended up getting a mungyo palette to supplement, though I do really enjoy a lot of the neutrals and soft colors in this one, which is why i chose it over palettes stacked with vibrant colors. I don't regret the choice at all but if you are only prepared to purchase ONE SET then you might want to take that into consideration. I'm far from experienced with this medium, but I'm enjoying these a lot as a new pastel user. I find the mungyos go on a little thinner and seem to layer a little more reliably because of it, and these are great for getting a thick, textured look with a heavy hand that I really enjoy. The light blues and purples are also wonderful for painting things like skies, and there are a few colors in this set that I'm absolutely in love with. ... show more

  • Lush and creamy but…
Color: 50 Colors
Some of these pastels feel like they’ve been soaking in baby oil which I don’t think is normal??? They still seem to work as intended but I had to take 1 star ⭐️ off for how greasy the paper wrapper is on some of these. Otherwise I really love these oil pastels. They are bold and creamy and easy to blend. I’m new to the medium so I can’t comment with any expertise but I like them and recommend them. ... show more

  • Great for Beginners
Color: White
They are not for professional use I can say that though for sure...some of the deep colors of blue would be good for professional, 95% of the rest.... really wouldn't. It's better than expected for the price. It's pretty much how I thought they would be where some of the colors are average, clearly, some have more filler than others and it shows with how some have an inconsistent color and texture when swatched. One thing to note is some colors are drier than others which I was not expecting while other colors are slathered in oil that essentially soaked some of the wrappings of the pastels. Some are dry and others are very smooth. Pigmentation is not the greatest, it's not professional use level but for the price, I was expecting not great pigments. So for beginners, these are really good. ... show more

  • Good quality, but messy
Color: 50 Colors
These are a step up from the last set of oil pastels I bought, but with the increase in quality came a bit more mess. The color palette is good, but I do find myself craving some more vibrant colors that I don’t see in this palette. These are very soft pastels that leave a lot of residue on surfaces and on my hands, but I find that soap and water cleans it off my hands and a microfiber towel cleans it off my glass table. ... show more

  • Gorgeous and so easy to blend!
Color: 36 Pastels Colors
I love these!! Gorgeous, vibrant colors and sooo easy to blend. I’ve used others that are so waxy and these are so smooth! I ordered another set in different shades and just love them! They’re also a nice, big size so you get TONS of product. Great color selection!
