  • Well Worth the Price for the Effort with Helpful Hints
Style: 10'x15'-Regular Roof
Went to fetch photos and they didn’t direct me back to my review… lost! Grr! Get your media first before writing. Ok, as always, the instructions missed some close-up details that would have helped me realize that I had reversed the roof-to-post support pictured. I lost a foot of height and gained it in the width. I did some extra holes for the “missing” roof sheet screw holes (by the way, use one of the self-tapping screw to pre-drill the supports to keep from long scratches on the roof sheet surfaces when you slip off your screw! 😂). As it turned out, I had enough head room for my F350 to drive through. The carport wasn’t for the truck, it was for my Honda, but I needed to drive the truck through it. If it was for the truck, I would have needed that extra foot for the doors to open without obstruction. I loosely assembled the frame down to the elbows and started attaching the sheets from the bottom up to get the proper overlap for rain to run over the seam. Because it was wider, I didn’t have to overlap as much, which brought it down the sides, too, with my extra holes… 😁 They say to square it up, but I just eyeballed it since the tin sheets can be compressed and a little taut, anyway. That’s why I left a little play in the frame. I put the insulating tape, sticky side down, pulling off the protective part inch by inch. Once I’ve done the whole run, I take out the screws that hold the first sheet in place, leave the protective tape in place, drop my second row sheet on top and screw the non-taped side in very loosely. This allows you to lift the taped side enough to pull off the protective tape just enough for that sheet. Then lay it down and screw it in. If you get into trouble, you can quickly yank the sheet off and replace it. I made a mistake on a row and had to take the off the insulation. It was quite a messy separation. I took off as much as I could and used Goof Off (the strongest one) and cleaned right off. The manufacturer gives you an extra roll, bolts, nuts and washers to get the job done with enough to spare. When I was done with the roof, I got some neighbors (3) and we lifted up one side for the four legs. Then lifted the other side while I slid on the remaining legs. Took 15 minutes and was not heavy. Has been water tight and hasn’t blown away after spiking down one side and anchoring the other with a cinder-block stone (Use a 3/8” masonry bit! Not included). It worked out great, even though it has been reconfigured to 11’x14’! 😎 ... show more
