The lamp will also require a similar replacement bulb or you won't get the 3 different colors. The included stencil is fun but not quite as classy as it looks in pictures. We recently redid my 4 year olds bedroom, then found out my wife is pregnant. We quickly needed to add a space for her to nurse a baby while getting our older baby to sleep. This lamp is perfect for saving space while adding a bit of light to the room. Our 4 year old loves books read to her every night, and this adjusts perfectly to 3 levels of light. Our daughter can reach the 'knob' to flip the switch as well, so we aren't too worried about hey pulling it down on herself. You can choose to add the star- and- moon insert or leave it blank. This lamp was easy to put together and works well. The shade snapped on easily. We opted to use the included little decorative insert as well. It is a fun addition it's not super obvious when the lamp is off and adds a fun touch when turned on. Having the option to use either warm light or daylight is also a nice bonus. This is a sleek, good looking floor lamp. The instructions really are a joke, however. They are tiny and really don't make much sense. Luckily it was fairly easy to put together, but I could see some having a lot of issues with what is given to put this together. Ultimately it is a nice lamp for the price. It does feel a bit cheap and there was a bit of bending needed. I also wish it had some sort of memory, so you don't have to cycle through the 3 light colors when you turn it on..... I ended up just using on the first one, so I don't have to cycle through. If this was a more expensive lamp it would've been a bigger issue but considering the price and the overall looks, I'm glad I got this. ... show more

I have several floor lamps similar to this one, so I figured that the assembly process would be pretty simple. I still looked at the tiny instruction pamphlet to see if there were any useful instructions, but as is usually the case, they were pretty minimal in their details. So, I proceeded to try to attach the pole pieces together, but I found that they wouldn’t fit, due to plastic pieces that wouldn’t allow the threaded pieces to join together. My initial impression was that they were somehow defective, and the instructions provided no clue, at least to the naked eye. After looking at the pieces more closely, I realized that the plastic rings could be removed, which I did. Only then was I able to screw the pole pieces together. Being an engineer, I am used to solving issues, but I can imagine that many people might get frustrated and return the lamp, believing that it was defective. I was then able to complete the assembly pretty quickly. Only after I was done, did I look more closely at the instructions and realize that there was incredibly tiny printing under some of the illustrations, so small it couldn’t be read without a magnifying glass. I used my phone to magnify the printing, and indeed there was text telling you to remove the plastic rings from the poles! So, had the instructions been printed in a larger font, it would have made the assembly process much easier! The finished product is nice and useful, but I deducted 2 stars for the inadequate instructions. ... show more

Cons: - The only downsides I can think of is that the variety of patterns on the removable lampshade stencil may not appeal to everyone's taste. - It's a little shorter than most standard size floor lamps at 70" high.
