  • Tedious to install - Fantastic writing experience
Size: iPad Air 10.9" / Pro 11" Color: Paperlike 2.1
I recently switched from a Supernote to an iPad Air and the experience of writing/drawing wasn't the same. After googling and asking friends I decided on Paperlike. And since they had an upgraded version why not try it out! Not thrilled about the cost of $22 per sheet but after using it for a few days LOVE IT. I love how Paperlike includes so many tools to install the screen protector. I looked through everything and watched the video before even trying to put it on. It was a breeze! Perfectly aligned, no dust and the air bubbles were super easy to get out. Key points to consider: They recommend installing after you, or someone, has taken a hot shower. The air won't contain dust because of the moisture in the air. Close the door and don't let any pets/children/dust monsters in. Also - install the screen protector with your iPad on a flat surface. It helps keep the stickers in place. I placed the screen protector over my iPad exactly where I wanted it - the side with the 2 Paperlike side goes up. Put the tab stickers on the side, re align, and then folded them over. The flat surface ensures the stickers stick to the ipad so you can remove any dust/surface grime. Flip the screen protector so you have full access to the screen. The alcohol wipe they provided worked great to remove some fingerprints and some grease from the screen. The lint wipe removed the rest of the residue. Now carefully remove the film from the back of the screen protector without touching either the screen or the back of the protector. Using the front tab pull it taut and then let it drop. You will have air bubbles! That's totally okay. Let it drop and smooth out with your hand. Peel off the last of the protective film. Using a credit card or other firm but not metal object gently start pushing the air bubbles out. Work from the middle and go slowly. Firm but gentle pressure. And voila! Perfectly installed screen protector. I love the clarity and texture it provides. I have an Apple Pencil 2 and it does change the amount of pressure you need but gives a lovely paper feel. Not quite pencil on paper but I nice gel pen. I'll report back on how it holds up but so far it's a great investment. ... show more

  • I like it a lot so far
Size: iPad Pro 12.9" Color: Paperlike 2.1
I was able to get the 12.9” version on without dust or bubbles first try by using a headlamp to see when dust settled on the screen along with an air duster and the included sticker. Note that the included dust grabber sticker leaves sticky residue sometimes so you’ll have to watch for that and wipe it up with the included cloth. I also followed the instruction video which was 100% necessary, it had some really cringey “humor” though that I didn’t appreciate being subjected to hah. When I first wrote on it (using it for homework/note taking) it made unbearable squeaking sounds. I tried cleaning it with some screen cleaner and a microfiber cloth and luckily the squeak away. I imagine there was some leftover residue from the protective cover you peel/throw away. The clarity (vs other matte screen protectors) and color reproduction are way better than the other brand I tried. This makes sense because they optimized the texture to minimize refraction. The screen is however quite a bit more dull than a naked screen but I was expecting that. ... show more

  • Fine for professionals
Size: iPad Pro 12.9" Color: Paperlike 2.1
First of all, the installation of this was insanely hard to pull off without some speck of dust but I think that’s mostly the iPad 12.9” screen being gigantic; it just sucks that you pay $50 for two tries at an installation. Anyways, I opted for the paperlike because I had to get a replacement iPad recently I thought I’d try the “pricier” upgrade from a much cheaper matte protector I was using just to see the hype, and unfortunately I’m not feeling it quite yet. It doesn’t feel quite paperlike as much as it feels very… plasticlike? The previous protector I used was quite textured and this one feels much smoother in comparison. However, the display on the paperlike is a bit clearer than my previous protector, so I guess it’s a trade off. I currently use a metal replacement nib on my Apple Pencil, and I tried the original nib just to see what it would feel like, but the metal nib feels better in general. For context, I work as a musician and primarily use my tablet for reading sheet music, and in that regard, it works exactly as it did before, and the anti-glare works well. I do digital art as a hobby, though, and it feels good enough and I can see why a professional would opt for this feeling. My main gripe here is the price. While the feel is good and the anti-glare is nice, unless you absolutely NEED the display to be as clear as possible, a cheaper matte screen will offer you about the same experience, if not even feeling just a little closer to paper than this does. I think in the future, if I need a replacement iPad again (god forbid) I personally would opt for a cheaper option, but I would recommend it to professional artists or people who are fine dishing out an extra $30-40 for this protector. However, I might recommend getting it installed by an expert if you’re really particular about dust under the screen; it’s another $50 if you mess it up twice. ... show more
