  • Great feature packed compact camera with 10x optical zoom
I purchased this camera for a recent vacation. I did not want to carry my DSLR with multiple lenses. I wanted a camera with a good optical zoom lens, good resolution, larger glass and sensor than my cellphone, but yet still fit in my pocket. I wanted to take great pictures without having to deal with my big camera strapped around my neck. This camera checked all my boxes. I am glad I found it, they don't make / market "compact" cameras like they did 10 years ago. The camera has a solid feel and good build quality. With the larger sensor and Lieca lens it exceeded my expectations for image quality. I can frame the shot almost as well as with my DSLR. The built-in image stabilizer results in crisp shots even when zoomed. It can shoot 4K video as well. It is feature packed. I am still learning all it's capabilities, but was able to get going in simple point and shoot mode right away using the IA setting with excellent results. Occasionally I would inadvertently activate some mode I didn't want and have to figure out how to get back. Having the manual in pdf format on my phone helped, as I was learning by doing. If I just wanted to get back to happy tourist shooting mode, I would reset it. Because of its size and heft, it's a bit of a stretch for a pocket camera, but it does fit in my pant pocket. I also bought a case for it that fits on the belt that I occasionally use as well. This is now my go to camera that I carry most (other than my cell phone, of course). ... show more

  • Great compact camera
It has a high-quality physical build, excellent image quality, and compact size. The Zeiss lens is superb. I appreciate the popup flash, which works well in low-light conditions. The dual viewfinders are excellent. I've used this camera to photograph family photos, sports, nature, and more. The camera feels great in my head. Perfect for travel. Highly recommended! ... show more

  • Too expensive...but still a very good camera
My old Nikon S9900 finally died and this was the best compact camera I could find to replace it. I only use this camera when we're traveling, and we travel light, so the compact size and the zoom is important, especially for trekking and wildlife shots. And even then, I had to settle for only 15X zoom. From Oct-Dec 2023 I gave it a rigorous trial on one of our longer trips and was not disappointed with the photo quality. For the most part the 15X zoom was adequate but there were several times I needed more. Another thing is the lack of a flip screen, which the Nikon had. That allowed me to put the camera down low to the ground, or in other odd positions, and angle the view screen for ease of composition without laying on the ground or doing other contortions. But on the positive side, it does have a digital viewfinder which is nice to have in bright sunlight conditions where the view screen might be washed out. There is also a steep learning curve for all the possible settings (and there are a lot!). The iA and iA+ modes are the AUTO equivalent on other compacts and can be very useful once you learn all the combinations and permutations of the settings. And beware the touch screen, because you can knock your settings out of whack mid-shot with an accidental touch. All in all, this is a very good camera, with a price that is just too high for what you get. ... show more

  • Perfect for Alaska wildlife photos
Quite the handy lightweight tool for our excursions — much easier and more convenient than the larger lenses others were carrying. In Denali our eyes only saw little white specks on the mountainside. But thanks to this camera’s zoom we have clear photos and videos of dall sheep resting on a mountain and a family of mountain goats playing on another mountain. And we got even closer images from our hotel window of a mother moose and her calf. Only suggestion is finding a better way to secure the camera to your wrist or around your neck so you feel safer in rockier environments like a smaller boat in choppy water, or when leaning out for a better photo. ... show more

  • Stopped working after 5 months. Do not buy
I suspect this storefront is selling European outfitted cameras. Purchased this point and shoot in July and LOVED it. It suddenly stopped working in October, the memory card said it was locked and it wasn’t. I couldn’t contact this seller because it had been several months since my purchase, and there was no way for me to even message them and ask what to do. I did some research and tried every at home fix for a “locked” memory card and nothing worked. Finally I took the camera to a repair shop and they reset all settings and tried additional repair methods with no success. They said a lot of Amazon storefronts knowingly or”accidentally” sell European products to American customers knowing that the camera will potentially break with NO possibility of repair due to the different settings and ways these products are made for different country settings. After I left the repair shop with my new camera still unusable, I contacted LUMIX directly and they informed me that there was nothing they could do because I didn’t purchase directly from them. I only went with the “Amazon recommended” purchase out of convenience. I will not make that mistake again. If you are going to purchase a new camera, do it from the actual company and not Amazon. ... show more

  • Great Travel Camera
I bought this camera for a cruise to Alaska, which we took almost two months ago. Since that time I've taken this camera on other family vacations and I find the photos to be amazing, the clarity and colors are perfect. I love the fact that the camera has a 1" sensor so that the photos can be enlarged substantially without much loss of resolution. Obviously, the compact size is very appealing in a travel situation, it's very easy to take with you everywhere. ... show more

  • Seems to have a software or firmware problem.
Have tried two of these for travel over the last two years for features, compactness and super zoom. Overall was impressed with concept, however and unfortunately, I’ve found the same issue in both: … when taking photo the camera will occasionally totally freeze up or lock up. The only cure I’ve found to even turn it off or restart is by removing the battery, then inserting it again. This just was not acceptable for me. Returned both, … one of which purchased this month (in hopes the issue had been resolved). Disappointing. ... show more
