  • Small, lightweight, and excellent rendering
I have extensive experience with 16-35mm zoom lenses, from Canon to Sony over the many years. The Lumix 16-35, while not a f/2.8, it's plenty good at f/4. The images are generally sharp wide open, with corners noticeably improving at f/5.6. But sharpness on its own is far from being the most important aspect of this lens; the image quality as a whole is exceptional. From contrast, color rendering to an overall pleasing character, this lens is a keeper. Much better than the Lumix 20-60 or 24-105 at overlapping focal lengths. The only other 16-35mm lens I was in love with was the Sony GM, but that one took me at least 3 samples to find a sharp one across the frame; the Lumix was perfect on the first try. I got mine while it was on sale for around a grand and at this price I believe it to be a great value. ... show more

  • Once more, Lumix PRO lenses do not disappoint!
Once more, Lumix PRO lenses do not disappoint!!! The Panasonic Lumix S Pro 16-35mm F4 Wide Zoom Lens is amazing! I've had the privilege of working with some of the best glass in the industry, and this lens is right up there with the best of them. The image quality is simply stunning, with crisp, sharp details and a level of contrast that's hard to believe. The lens's wide-angle capabilities are perfect for capturing sweeping landscapes, dramatic skies, and expansive interior shots. True to The Lumix PRO line, the build quality is also exceptional, with a rugged, weather-sealed design that can withstand the rigors of heavy use. The lens's ergonomic design makes it a joy to handle, with smooth, precise zoom and focus controls. Being able to get as close as 11 inches to my subject has opened up a whole new world of creative possibilities. ... show more

  • A fantastic lens, especially for video shooters!
This is a well built lens with great color rendition, sharpness, flare control, and Leica certification to boot! The autofocus is more responsive than Panasonic's 24-105mm f4 S lens and has good smooth transitions when focusing from near to far or vice versa. Human and animal focus modes ith priority for near subjects provide the overall best results. The clutched manual focus ring is also a huge plus for video users. Be aware that you will get sensor stabilization wobble on your video at the wider end of the zoom range; but this is an issue in other platforms as well (Canon, Fujifilm, etc.) and in my opinion not a deal breaker. Overall if you are ab L mount video shooter and need that wide field to view, this lens is a great choice. If you primary shoot stills you can consider the Sigma 12-24mm f2.8, but this lens doesn't have a front filter thread for vari-ND's, which makes it a non-starter for video. ... show more

  • Superb Lens
I have this S Pro 16-35MM f4 lens and use it with my Panasonic S1. The lens is sharp, the autofocus is excellent, and the IQ is outstanding. Very happy with it.

  • Excellent lens UNTIL…
I had this lens for just under one month. I bought this lens for use on my Leica CL. I found this lens superior to the "kit" zoom lens sold with the CL. Focus was better, image files were more detailed, image file color and contrast was better. After not using the lens for a couple of weeks I mounted it on my CL and the auto focus was no longer working. Not knowing if this were a fault of the CL or the lens I mounted the lens on my Leica SL. Same inability of the auto focus to work. Each camera would default to manual focus when this lens was mounted. I tried other L mount lens on the CL and SL and auto focus was perfect. I've since returned the lens to Amazon. Very disappointed since I had bought the lens for use with my CL. Now I'm reluctant to get another copy (either a single bad lens or a bad batch?). I'll give this some time before buying another copy. ... show more

Should be a great lens.. but mine arrive defective; opened brand box, unwraped lens to find a rattle inside lens, and won't open up past f4.5
