  • great camera value
I already own the Panasonic Lumix FZ300 which has a smaller zoom but I left in my house in Africa while visiting the USA and was stuck here during Pandemic. I have a chance to do some wildlife photos and decided to purchase the newer model FZ80 with more zoom. The zoom is great and versatile at 20-1200 so it has a great wide angle and good optical zoom. I like the fact they removed the Electronic View Finder sensor that picks up movement around the eyepiece and switches from the screen to the eyepiece. I do not like the fact they fixed the touchscreen screen on the back (the FZ300 has one that you can flip for doing self videos like on YouTube). I took the camera out to a local park and the zoom did great. High detail quality fully extended. The small waterfall is the normal view at one point and the geese head is fully zoomed out at the same point. The large waterfall gives you a view of the wide-angle. The macro setting for the flowers was great. This camera does not have the microphone jack like the FZ300 which is disappointing. Overall the camera is a really good Bridge camera with fixed lens especially for the price. Most of my disappointments are personal taste and may not affect you but wanted to give as complete a picture as possible. ... show more

  • Great camera for amateur photos, great customer service from Adorama
This review is both for the camera and the seller Adorama. Camera is great for my needs, lightweight with all features working as expected. I didn't buy it for the WiFi, but even that part works well. I was able to transfer photos to my phone without any issue. The zoom on the camera is great, I was able to get some nice moon pictures using a tripod. Any gripes? Yes, if it also supported Bluetooth, that would even be better. Also I cannot understand why the video files cannot be transferred over WiFi. Still, none of these are deal breakers. Now the seller. Adorama did not ship the 32GB SD card and the software package details with their original shipment. However, after a phone call to their support number, I got all the missing SD card and software license codes in the second shipment in about 5 days. Mistakes can happen. The important thing is, they rectified it as fast as they could. That's the type of seller I would like to work with and I can recommend without any hesitation. ... show more

  • A ver good camera outfit for beginners and experts alike
This is a great camera outfit especially if what you mostly want is basically Point-and-shoot. Just switch the mode to P and go to shooting. If you are into all the various settings, features, adjustments etc etc, this is your camera also! It comes with more features, pieces, settings, etc etc than I can count. There are settings and adjustments for everything! But candidly, the trick is to figure out what the features all are, where the are, how you adjust them, and what they all do. The included User Manual is good help, but the Main User Manual (not included) is required for the important misc little details. This Main User Manual can be seen it it's 250+ pg entirety on the Panasonic web site. Searchable too. For example, I couldn't figure out how to add more contrast to photos until I consulted the Main manual. With built in flash, super zoom, and excellent photo and video clarity, you couldn't want for more for your approx $430. Good bargain! The only reason I didn't give this product 5 stars is the kind of difficult User Manual. 5/15/2025 Amended this review: As mentioned above, the User Manual (and the camera itself) became so cumbersome and puzzling that I couldn't understand many of the procedures for operating the camera and many of it's features. When the frustration became too much, I returned the camera. Excellent photos and videos, but.... ... show more

  • Great zoom feature at a good price.
I wanted a camera to photograph birds. The 60x zoom is great for this purpose. And the price for the camera makes it a good value. But this is a complex machine. The paper manual is not adequate, and the internet download version is complicated. It took a while to determine that I had to create a custom focusing mode to photograph birds behind brush. I still have not been able to download from the camera to my iPad, but a card reader works fine. I will continue my education. ... show more

  • Perfect Zoom for both Landscape and Close-up Photography
This camera fills my needs at all magnification requirements with objects closer than an inch all the way up to a focal length of 1200mm. Captured great photos at both extremes. It has raw and post focus functions. It does not have a lens ring for focus, but the auto focus function are OK. White balance is perfect. For fine art photography, however, I'd go with a high end Sony such as the A7CR which has a 60+ megapixel sensor and pixel shift technology allowing extremely high resolution and color fidelity. I'd recommend the Panasonic as a versatile camera competing with any camera in its price range. ... show more

  • Great Camera
Really like the Panasonic Lumix camera line. Allows for beginners and amateurs alike to grow into a camera by using it in point-and-shoot mode, or, fully automatic. For some reason though they only seem to last about 3 -4 years and then have to be replaced.

  • Not worth the money
Paid a lot of money for this camera and it’s no better than a point in shoot. I bought it to go on a trip. The pictures are hardly ever in focus. You blow them up. They’re fuzzy. I would not waste the money on this camera.
