  • Bluetooth Operation Might Make Land-lines Relevant Again?
Color: Metallic Grey Size: 2 handsets
I have patchy cellphone service in my house. Callers often told me that my signal was cutting in and out. I use my cellphone with a Blue Parrot B250-XT Bluetooth headset which I love because of the flexibility it gives me to wander around and do chores while I'm speaking. Now, we have a land-line number which we seldom use. It's the number we give out to stores and businesses when we don't really want to speak to them. We also get a lot of junk calls on it so, as a rule, it never gets answered. Every now and then we do get a call from one of my partner's old contractors so, if he gets even one day's work out of that, it pays for the phone service for a year or more. I have a spare "Turn Raise Trucker" Bluetooth headset similar to the Blue Parrot but not so great quality. I previously had it paired to an older cellphone to make WiFi calls over Google Voice. I thought that would solve my poor cell service issue but to be honest the results were hit and miss. I figured what I really needed was a land-line phone I could hook up to a Bluetooth headset. It took an age to find a product that could do that which I find strange in this rapidly evolving technological world. Most of the "Bluetooth" cordless phones I found only had the ability to "link to cell" (which this one does also) but that's no use if your cellphone service is poor in the first instance. My first attempt was with a Clarity cordless phone which was designed for the hard of hearing but did have a Bluetooth hook-up for connecting to hearing loops etc. Great in theory but the unit I ordered was DOA so that had to go back. Then I chanced across this Panasonic unit and it seems my quest has been fulfilled. The order consists of a base unit plus an additional extension unit. I was quickly able to pair my Blue Parrot-alike headset to the base. I was also pleasantly surprised to learn that I could assign different ring-tones to certain numbers. I placed my most regularly dialed friends into a contact group and gave them a tinkly sound so that I know if it's one of them calling and I should actually pick up the phone. As an additional bonus, the unit also speaks the name of the dialer so, even if it's not a pre-entered contact calling, I can still decide whether or not to answer. Using the Bluetooth isn't as straight forward as with a cellphone. You have to first switch on the Bluetooth headset then place the call with the handset. Once the call is underway you can "pick-up" the call with the Bluetooth device's connect button, somewhat like the way we used to pick up a phone extension to join a call. At first I was concerned that if the Panasonic handset was active as well as the Bluetooth I might get noise interference from whatever it picks up through the handset's mic. I quickly figured that, once the call was underway, I could mute the handset and just have the Bluetooth's mic active. Incoming calls are also a little weird. If the Bluetooth device is already powered up you just press the connect button and you're good to go but you cannot power up the Bluetooth and then join mid-call as you can with an outgoing call you've placed. No big deal, I just usually hang up and call my friends back. Since I have an unlimited plan it makes no difference to me. Call quality is OK. My friends say they can hear me loud and clear. The sound is a little muffled and crackly on my end but to be honest that could be a combination of the lower quality Bluetooth headset and the fact that, if I remember correctly, the line itself, which is Spectrum VOIP, always had some crackle interference, even when it was hooked up to a regular corded phone. Once I get used to using this system, I might stump for an extra Blue Parrot. They are the best and I do talk a lot during the day for business and pleasure. Other than that there's not really much to say as regards to my usage. I now have a usable phone-line for both outgoing and inbound calls. The additional handset which I don't really need, set up and synced automatically. It does not need to be plugged in to a phone outlet but it does need a DC adapter input for operation and battery charging. It copied all the contacts in the base unit as well as assigning the same ring-tone to my friends' group with absolutely no input from me. Impressive! The base unit does feature an answering machine but I just let my phone company's voice-mail service handle that. The handset does let you know if there are any new messages left at the server. I also believe the system can store up to 3000 contacts which might be useful to you but I top out at 20 or so for regular calling purposes. So there you have it. Bluetooth operation on a land-line. If that's what you want, this is what to get. Simple! ... show more

  • Features, features, and call blocking!
Color: Metallic Grey Size: 2 handsets
Love this phone! Where do I start? Can connect to my cell phone (which I always misplace) don't miss any calls. The talking caller I'd is great I don't have to look for my readers to see the display Display is still large and bright enough for me to read. Can play/delete voice messages from handset. Easy to save phone numbers. You can choose different ring tones, volume and even has a ringer off option. (For nap time you can designate a time period :).I saved the best for last the call blocking is wonderful! I have had my landline # for 2 years and they are still calling for Mildred. But no longer with a few presses of a button the calls are blocked. Also you can't beat the price for all these features. Hope this helps in your decision making. ... show more

  • 🙂👍 One Happy Camper, here’s why;
Color: Navy Blue Size: 3 handsets
I would like to start by saying that I waited 2 days, Delivery was Swift and fast. Keep in mind I purchased this in December, a week before Christmas. All three phones came with all their pieces and the Manual was very user friendly. Print is not so much, definitely have a pair of readers. Phone is made with a durable Material and are appealing to the eyes. Very easy to assemble, and charge. Calls are good Quality and I find it super adorable that the phone advises you who is calling out loud ( will tell you what the caller ID says or what you have saved the number under you phone book ie: My mother is under Nana so, the phone says nana is calling. I adore it ! I was impressed with the Bluetooth feature, and although thought to be complicated to set up, it was actually a breeze. This Feature makes this phone totally worth. I advise you do your research and take my opinion into consideration. I didn’t want to spend money but wanted a bang for my buck, I was looking for a mmhpp that made it stand out and this Bluetooth totally did it for me. Ring tones are cute, font is large. I am totally pleased, as this phone was my Christmas present to the house. 😳 weird I know but nice excuse to buy something right lmfao. ... show more

  • No Belt Clip, No Headphone jack.
Color: Metallic Grey Size: 6 handsets
The phones themselves provide good quality sound. They have lot of features, more then anyone needs, and they were fairly easy to setup. HOWEVER, they do not have a headphone jack or a belt clip. I'm not sure how I missed that during my research. I use my phone while trying to multitask doing household chores. The lack of a belt clip means you cannot clip it to your shirt and the lack of a headphone jack means you cannot plug in a standard headphone and simply put the phone in your pocket. The base unit does have Bluetooth capability but that forces you to being very close to the base unit. It would have been a great phone if these two options would have been included. ... show more

  • Ok but won't stay charged
Color: Navy Blue Size: 3 handsets
This phone is great, feature wise. It hooks to your mobile phone so that it will ring on your landline. It has a lot of customizable features, per handset or for all. I LOVE the call block feature. The only gripe I have is the fact that it won't stay charged past about a day. It's supposed to have a 5 day standby charge time. I don't use it but maybe 10 minutes a day, so it certainly should last a lot longer than it is. Other than that, I highly recommend it. ... show more

Color: Rose Gold Size: 2 handsets
Refurbished phone: Missing the phone cord and most importantly the DC power electric plug/cable for main unit (secondary unit DC power cord plug is built in). Can't use phone, brilliant!
