Description

Peru Treasure Pan Flutes Brand new in Box. Handmade from Peru. Measures: 7 1/4" (L) x 7" (W) Shortest pipe is 2"- see picture for details. Tuned C (Do). 440Hz. Comes with colorful carrying case. Recreate the mystical Inca sounds with your new flute! Ancestral Inca sounds Made from the renewable crop of bamboo. These are the core instruments played in the Andes for hundreds of years. The pan flute or pan pipe (also known as panflute or panpipes) is an ancient some professional instruments use wax or pellets to tune the fundamental. The pan flute, also referred to as the syrinx, is an ancient musical instrument that consists of 10 or more pipes in increasing lengths bound together as one wind instrument. It is played vertically but blown horizontally across the open inner edges of the pipes. The air blown through the instrument creates a series of pulses that generate sound waves within the tubes. Each pipe is tuned to a different note for producing a wide range of sound. In Peru it is commonly referred to as the Antara or Zamponia and there are surely other names that can be added because it is a common instrument in the diverse indigenous tribes of the Amazon forest. Right measurements for beginners Pan pipes are perhaps the universal instrument par excellence stemming from remote times that developed in all cultures in the four corners of the Earth. It is curious that this instrument has occurred in similar shapes and forms everywhere during different periods. The zampoña, Antara or Andara are considered the complete nusical instruments, since they are closely related to most pre-Columbian cultures, There is still a certain musical mystique related to inheritance, genes or tradition which implies a totally different and smooth sound, a certain nostalgia and depth, signs of the great sensitivity of the pre - Columbian cultures. • Its a SOPRANO PANFLUTE.
This is a high quality product.notes where in tune.the make was great. I liked ot a lot. BUT!! you have to know this flute in more an upper register..so you start from mid frequencies to very high...meaning its more soprano....i did not like this..as more famous pan flute players use much lower frequencies...and propably from the 10th tube to 15th tube the frequency is so soprano that it looses the magical resonance of pan flute..if you wanna learn with a descent product and dont care to play on soprano..get this...but if you are looking for the sound of pan flutes you heard before.mu must get one which has longer tubes and is bigger so produces notes from lower frequencies...like alto if there are any... ... show more

  • Great sound, but plan to spend a few minutes making it playable.
The good: the pipes are easily tuned and played, and have that distinctive panpipe sound I was looking for. The sound is great and carries well. Both the low and high notes sound easily. I believe it wouldn't be much trouble to tune it to other keys, though I haven't tried to yet. The bad: Several of the pipes were out of tune, one severely so. I saw in another comment that they could be tuned by pushing the little cotton stop up and down in the pipe and was able to get them in tune using an electronic tuner. Don't get these pipes if you can't tune them. Also, a few of the pipes were in a little shifted up or down from the others. I was able to push all but one of them back into place. ... show more

Pretty good for a small starter flute - with a little practice.. I wish they gave some basic info with it, like a simple one page diagram/list of what the exact notes each pipe is set to for instance. Helpful for beginners. Would still like this info.

  • Worth the money
The pan flute is smaller than I expected, even though the dimensions are given. The pipe openings are about the size of a 22 bullet. However, when I played it, it had a very pleasant sound and the pipes were in tune. The case is beautiful and I saw a similar case for my 22 pipe pan flute was looked like it, only bigger that sold for $35. I figure the case alone would cost about $25, so that makes the cost of the pan pipe itself much less. The pipes are held in place by the strap, but loose at the bottom. I like a firmer feel, like my other pan flutes and will glue the pipes. ... show more

  • A Real, Functional, Reasonably-Priced Pan Flute
I was able to play this right out of the envelope. It's already tuned, and has a beautiful sound. As a child I played western concert flute for two years. As an adult I learned you can produce half notes by changing the angle of tilt when blowing into a beer bottle, and the same applies here. I'm glad I shopped around long enough to buy a real pan flute. This flute is sturdy, and gorgeous as well. ... show more

  • My wife loves this.
My wife loves this. She carries it with her almost everywhere we go in the car. Sounds great. Well tuned in the key of C.

  • high pitched
This flute is very high pitched so be expecting that, most of the pan flute music you hear is much lower than this flute can play. You can tune it with the cotton in the pipes though, just one of mine was very out of tune when I got it. Gorgeous case though and overall decent for the price.
