Had a 150' of cedar fence that needed touch-up. Considered a $300+ airless spray the pros use, but figured I'd give this a try as I have lots of Ryobi batteries...not much risk @ $40+. I used the strainers included, and it took too much time, so pretty much loaded the sprayer with less than optimal (some lumps) latex stain. Wondered if it would choke on the lumps...but it powered through. It took about 5 large batteries to do all the fence I needed...about 10-15 minutes, then they were spent. The sprayer does spit a blob or 2 when you restart the sprayer (may be because it was starting to accumulate on the spray tip a bit), but if you are ready for it, you can avoid nasty surprises. Compared to brushes, this was at least 3 times quicker, and less messy (once I ditched the filter cones). All in all, if you are careful at trigger pull not to get a blob, you are going to be pretty happy with this. It cleaned up fairly easy, and am fairly sure it'll be ready to go on the next project. ... show more

This is a very simple and easy to use sprayer. It's also light and easily cleaned. I let my 6 and 10 year old grandkids help me spray a bridge we built to seal it from the weather. They also liked it and wasn't to heavy for them.

    • Insufficient spray
I have quite a bit of experience with paint sprayers, from handheld airless sprayers to the larger professional size airless sprayers and HVLP sprayers. I just couldn't get this one to work with anything close to satisfactory results. The unit itself came with no instructions. There's nothing about how much to dilute paint or about straining it or adjusting the spray pattern or volume. It comes with 4 different plates with different sized holes, but there's no information provided that explaines what the different plates are for or suggests when or how to use them. There's also no information provided on how to clean it. If you're experience with other airless sprayers, you can probable figure mist of that out, but the performance is still a problem. It makes alot of noise like it's really doing something, but hardly any paint comes out. The paint that does come out just sort of sputters out and falls onto the surface. No matter how much I thinned the paint, it always seemed like the unit just didn't have enough power to push the paint out. I even tried thinning the paint well beyond the point of ruining it and it just wasn't enough. I don't think this tool could satisfactorily spray pure water. I'll try working with it a little more to see if I can come up with a way to get better results and will update this review if anything changes. ... show more

This holds paint and sporadically sprays paint but is unusable. I bought it to paint a small shed and ended up having to go it with a brush and roller anyways
