I chose this sprayer because it came with different tips. Boy was that a good choice. I got it a few weeks ago because I needed to re-stain my deck which is a job that doesn’t have to be perfect. It did the job great. I really liked the light weight and adjustable spray pattern. It sprayed better than the Wagner corded model I used to have but hated the extreme clean up. Did I mention how easy it is to clean up? What a breeze! Just 4 parts that come apart so easily. Literally, clean up takes 5-10 minutes! I have a lot of Dewalt tools so having a sprayer that uses the Dewalt 20v batteries is awesome. I found that one 4 amp hour battery lasts about two fills of the tank but I found it starts to slow down. So, I just swapped batteries when I refilled the tank to keep it running consistently from start to finish. I liked it so much I used it to paint the roof of my son’s 4 door F-150!!!! Yes, I painted a vehicle with it and it came out just as good as the compressed air sprayer I have. And, it was so much easier to adjust. Really, this kit came with filters, which are a must for all sprayers, and worked way better than I ever imagined. I know this sounds like an overblown fake review but it’s real!! Really! IT’S REAL!!! Buy it. You will not be disappointed.

To give a comparison, we tried a Wagner Flexio 2500 and liked it but hated the cord. I can confidently say this performs just as well at 1/3 the price of the Wagner, and it weighs about the same when using a 3-amp Dewalt battery. The downside is that it uses up batteries quickly; so far, a fully charged 3-amp battery will cover an entire 8’ x 8’ wall or about half of the paint gun’s container. I have multiple batteries, so it’s not an issue for me, but it might be a problem for someone with only 1 or 2 batteries trying to paint an entire room. The power does not change with different amp batteries. I’ll update about using a 5- or 6-amp battery when one is fully charged. Also, I don’t think there is a dead battery safety switch on this like Dewalt tools, because I used a 1-amp battery, and it died completely, making me jump-start it, so keep that in mind. For me, weight was no issue, but my wife used it for 5 minutes and then wanted to use a brush, so there’s that. Other than that, 10/10 for now.

I airbrush paint objects as a hobby. Recently, I got a wooden chest from Hobby Lobby, and it is too big to fit into my fume exhaust booth. I thought about just getting a few cans of spray paint and going outside, but I have a TON of different acrylic paints from my airbrushing, and I've got a few Dewalt 20 volt batteries so...... First off, the manual that comes with this sprayer is HORRIBLE. Full of broken English, and haphazard explanations. I am willing to bet that a good number of the bad reviews of this sprayer are simply users that don't know how to properly use this sprayer. What do I mean? Before I bought this, I noticed a fair number of the bad reviews stated that the sprayer wouldn't atomize and spray the paint cleanly. I've seen similar reviews for airbrushes that I find work fine, so I decided to take a chance on this sprayer. You MUST set the trigger action properly on this spray gun! If you don't, the sprayer will indeed not spray paint well, if at all. How is this done? There's a black knob right behind the trigger. Turning that knob adjusts how far back you can pull the trigger. The more the trigger moves, the more this sprayer's needle can move back, allowing more paint to flow out. The thicker your paint, the more you need to turn the knob back so the trigger can move back more, allowing more paint to flow according to the air the sprayer blows. If the trigger can't pull back enough for thick paint, the sprayer just won't spray well, or you'll just get a really thin mist of paint. If the paint is thinner, and/or you notice the sprayer is "spitting" paint in blobs, you need to turn the knob further up to limit the amount of paint that can flow when the sprayer is activated. How do you adjust the knob? With the sprayer in your RIGHT hand, turning the knob AWAY from you with your left hand will move the stop up, limiting the amount the trigger can move. Rotating the knob TOWARD you will increase the amount the trigger can move. Now, that's the tricky part, at least in my experience. This sprayer does come with a viscosity measuring cup, but I have never used one so it's quite foreign to me. So, I flatten a large box, and use it for spray tests. Dialing this sprayer's knob in can be frustrating for specific paints at first. But, if you do get this sprayer dialed in, it does work well! How long does it last? Depends on the battery and how long the sprayer is on and spraying. If you have a 1.5Ah battery and run this sprayer non-stop, yeah, it's not going to last long. On the flipside, if you can handle the extra weight and heft of a 6Ah battery, and spray a few coats on a small object, wait, then another few coats, etc. then this sprayer will go all day. Finally, disassembling this sprayer is fairly easy, though I do wish there was an easy way to remove the needle for more thorough cleaning. But after a couple of times of cleaning, my sprayer is still working fine!
