Just like us humans, older pets can't regulate their temperature as well as when they were young. They get sore joints, and it is colder there down on the floor. Be a sweetie and keep them warm and cozy with this nice pad! I bought one last year - big mistake - EVERYONE wanted to be on it, lol! So I bought two more, then I bought another for a poor abandoned outdoor cat that I am feeding until I can find him a home. I like the fact that it doesn't turn off automatically so it doesn't go cold when I forget to turn it on! And a great length of cord, chew-proof. Seeriously nice padding to keep it off of cold surfaces and a nice pillow-case sort of cover, but I throw an old towel over them anyway (easier to change out and throw in the wash). It's so darn cold now, Decemeber, I might even want one in my bed to keep my feet warm!

My outdoor cat is very spoiled. He has a nice big, double insulated house with lid and a protective entrance. He comes in through "hall" that turns a couple of times so nothing big can follow him in and if it's small he can get to the open area and beat the sap out of whatever's following him while it's stuck in a small hall. Once inside his palace he has a main floor, then a little shelf that he can lay on if he wants to be up higher on the second level. Normally we have two cats so they can snuggle and keep each other warm, but we lost our other one after winter started and I didn't want to try to introduce a new cat and have issues where one wouldn't feel safe coming inside where it's warm so I bought this. "Dust" (my cat) carefully supervised as I took the lid off of his house and settled the pad in and ran the cord out through the tunnel and then taped it along the side so it would stay put and then I plugged it in and put the house back together. Dust wasn't sure about this whole thing, what strange thing had I put in his house. But he finally decided to give it a try. It has a nice thick pillow pad, then the warming pad, then another smaller pad to protect them from getting too warm, and it's all in a removable, washable, soft cover. The one I bought it always on, no timer. Dust loves it! If you pet him just after he comes out you feel that he's comfortably warm, not hot. He used to beg to come in and watch football with dad or a little tv with me when it got really stormy or cold. Now, the only time he asks to come in the house is to point out that he really thinks there's something good in the fridge that's for him to eat or if he went mousing in the rain and got sopping wet, then he wants to come in and get towel dried off. Definitely a great investment!

Winter isn't kind to my mom's elderly, outdoor cat so I got this heated pad for her bed. (The bed is on a porch and out of direct weather.) It took her (the cat) a couple of days to realize that her bed was now warm all the time, but once she did, she became a very happy and contented kitty. My mom said that on cooler days, the cat spends most of her time in her bed, enjoying the warmth. This product seems to be well-made and durable, and it lasted through an entire winter outdoors (albeit out of direct weather) without any issues. I was a little concerned about the lack of temperature adjustment but the preset temperature is comfortable for pets - slightly warm, but not overly so. I'm quite pleased with the product and it definitely has a senior kitty's vote of approval.

With all the cats we have (30+) and was kind of use to the beds and did not think they would like this BUT I WAS WRONG. They LOVE IT and now we need to get more, about 7. They are made kind of heavy duty and are very easy to clean. The cushion is covered with a tough but soft material and can be wiped down the cover can be washed but on gentle cycle (we use Dreft detergent). The size and for it to have a heating pad with a chew proof (for cats) power cable. This is a great deal. A least they are not sleeping on us anymore, well most.

The mat I received was not meant for using outdoors. It looked fine, but the label on the product said, "Not for outdoor use." It was nice looking and seemed like it would be comfortable for the cat, but I needed to use it outdoors. This might've been a substitute for an out-of-stock item. It was not from the advertised manufacturer. I returned it and got a full refund with no hassles, which is why I like Amazon.

We put these is outdoor cat houses for outside cats in the winter. We often put straw on top of them for more warmth. The cats love them and we use them year after year. The covers come off for easy cleaning. At times we have múltiple cats trying to sit on a piece of the hearing pad for warmth.
