I originally ordered this 18W (400 GPH) air pump for my outdoor pond (1,400 gallons with goldfish), but since the pond was frozen, I tested it first in a 36-gallon indoor aquarium. Pump runs smoothly and isn’t overly loud, which matters if you’re using it indoors. I liked it enough that I kept it inside. It has thick rubber feet on the bottom that really help with lowering vibration noise. I also sit it on a small scrap of low pile carpet to further reduce noise. Almost none to speak of. Short version: this pump is powerful. It’s more than enough for a tank that size and should have no problem aerating a small pond. I only wanted to aerate the pond, not run any water features. It comes with: * 4 air outlets (all individually adjustable) * Enough tubing to run all lines (feels like silicone) * 4 air stones that work well (soak first) * 4 backflow prevention valves * Rubber feet that noticeably reduce vibration and noise Being able to control each line separately is probably my favorite feature. You can also fine-tune the airflow to exactly how you want using the “volume controller” knob. It has a sponge filter on the bottom of the pump. I’m not sure how I would reorder those but it was easy to clean anyhow. When I saw it was dirty I turned off the pump, rinsed the filter in plain water, and let it air dry before replacing it. Worked fine. I didn’t not run the pump without the filter but of course it would run if I had. One issue (see photos): The metal exhaust outlet nozzle is threaded or screwed onto the plastic unit and the outlet port developed a crack where the metal outlet screws on. This caused a small air leak that I fixed it easily with waterproof tape and haven’t had any problems since. Bottom line: Strong airflow, great features, and very versatile. The crack was disappointing, but it was fixable and didn’t affect performance long-term. It seems like I over-tightened when screwing on the nozzle, but also I didn’t get even halfway down the threads. So idk. I would still buy this again—just be mindful when tightening the outlet connection. ... show more

Ordered two of the 3000gpm and one fell apart ( the metal sleeve holding the round plastic water wheel) so unit just sits making noise...the other one is working well....would like to get another one but unable to reach oyo company...

Best Pump

Absolutely the easiest and perfect pump. We have an above ground pool and the pool pump stopped working so I had to empty and clean the pool and refill it. I chose this pond pump because of the price and the need for a good pool circulator. It works great. The water fall it creates is wonderful. I was going to take the pool down if this didn’t work. But it’s perfect, powerful keeps the water clean and sounds wonderful. I can’t believe you just put it in the water and plug it in as the description explains. ... show more

Compact well made pump.

This pump is the perfect flow rate for my foutain/waterfall. It was a little tricky to install only because I had set up plumbing to mate with a vertical (sump-style) pump. But after I dealt with that, it was smooth going from there. The enclosing net should prevent any stones from jamming the pump, and if something should get through, the easily removed impeller will make it easy to clear. And I hope this pump, designed for continuous use, will have a longer life than the sump-style pumps I have used in the past. ... show more
