I don't do a lot of cooking when I go tent camping...I do more food warming, actually. Occasionally, I take ingredients to put together a basic meal. I have found that on those rare occasions, I may need spices other than the salt and pepper packets I have accumulated from to-go orders over the years. I didn't need my entire spice cabinet, but I wanted to be able to take a handful of versatile spices with me for times when I needed a flavor punch. I decided that the OXO Outdoor 4-Piece Spice Shaker Set would fit the bill. I received the set and was quite happy. It comes with four spice shakers with two different hole sizes. The smaller holes work well with two of my favorite spices, garlic powder and celery salt, the the larger holes are perfect for red pepper flakes and Parmesan cheese. This takes care all of my very limited spice needs when camping. The shakers feel high quality, just as I have come to expect from OXO. The lids are of a subdued color, which complements the rest of the gear in my camping kitchen tote. The lids create a very good seal, so I don't have to worry about leakage or the freshness of the contents. The size is also perfect. They are big enough to hold enough of each spice but small enough to not take up a lot of room. Plus, the containers snap together, so they stay together in the storage pouch I keep them in. If I ever get more adventurous with my camp cooking, I will purchase another set. There's not much else to say...they do what I need them to do. I am very happy with the OXO Outdoor 4-Piece Spice Shaker Set. It allows me to take a few spices with me when camping and the price was right. ... show more

I bought these to use for a trip to my mother's so I could bring the needed spices for a few meals I was going to make while there so I would not have to buy new spices that would end up sitting in her cabinet never to be used by her. I placed needed amounts into them, placed lids on and attached 2 together placed inside a ziplock bag (just to be safe) and tossed them in my suitcase and off to eastcoast I flew. Upon arrival and unpacking these containers were still secure and had no issues with the planes pressure as none of the spices had come out of the lids. After return I ng home I gave my friend one of my sets seeing she goes camping a lot and figured these little spice holders would be perfect for camping trips. If you go camping or stay at airB&Bs and do cooking I can recommend these so you're not wasting $$ buying spices at your destination. They are easy to fill, lids stay secure and you can either sprinkle the spices ontop of your food (more of a salt shaker type top) or remove the cap and pour (which may be messy) or insert measuring spoon into the holder (which I did and worked well). ... show more

Definitely can be used for trips like camping, bbqs at the park, timeshare visits or even hotels with a kitchenette, etc. All the tips can be interchanged to fit your desired need (ex: nozzles for dispensing cooking oil versus salad dressing, or tops to shake salt versus pepper).
