I absolutely didn’t know I needed this tool rest…until I bought it and used it! I used to set my grill tools on the side table or hang them from the hooks on the side. The problem was that grease would either get the side table dirty or drip onto my patio. This little tool rest was just what I needed to keep the mess contained. It’s easy to clean, heat resistant, and even holds your tongs. I don’t put silicone in the dishwasher because that tends to leave spots, but a quick wipe with a sponge/scrubber and a rinse with hot water are all I’ve needed to do. It’s slip resistant and makes for a great place to put my Thermopen without me worrying it will get knocked off. And it’s durable! Pros: Inexpensive Slip resistant Easy to clean Durable Cons: None that I’ve found so far!

Good quality, and very sturdy. The length of the tongs is the same as the Oxo 16-inch, the 18-inch measurement includes the hanger. Though the hanger is shaped in a way to make them easier to lock. The spring hinge is stronger than I expected, and took some time to get use to it. This becomes an annoyance when I am tuning over a lot of pieces of food, and does cause some fatigue. Fortunately I don't grill/BBQ large quantiles of food very often.

Yes, it is sturdy and well constructed by a very good company, but no chef (I’m hardly one) would use this stiff, thick blade to grill, if they were searing. Searing requires a relatively sharp blade to get close to the grill to preserve the sear (crusty stuff). I didn’t realize this until my son bought a custom made spatula with a nice edge with flex. You don’t have to custom order one, tho, there are plenty of good ones on Amazon, but the blade has to have flex and be thin. This one is not!

I've used a lot of different grilling tongs, and these are by far the best! They are sturdy and well made, they are a solid construction that allows you to grip heavy meat without the tongs bowing. They touch at the very tip so you can also pick up small things like asparagus.

I bought these a a gift. After using different tongs on the grill, the OXO checked all the boxes. Easy to open, easy to use, they stay shut without a band that sometimes slips off and they open wide. The 18 inch gives you a good reach so no cooked hands on the grill. The tongs worked so well, I also got a turner. Whoever gets these as a gift may not remember who gave them, but they will be their favorite utensils.

Used this yesterday evening while grilling ribs. Holds marinade well when basting and made application of the BBQ sauce extremely easy. Wish I had this years ago! Easy to clean - unlike the old bristle brush. Ging to buy one for my son-in-law who likes to grill.
