  • Perfect.. but not
I Love Cuisinart. I have a Cuisinart Panini press, but since its not an appliance I use daily, it is put away with other infrequently used electrical appliances, like my waffle iron. I have MASSIVE amounts of cast iron, and I am Lodge cast iron all the way. I decided to buy a lodge square grill pan and a press so I could just grab and use those easier than dragging out the panini press for only one sandwich. I broke my Lodge only for cast iron rule and went with the Cuisinart cast iron press because of the lighter weight. I want my sandwiches grilled not smooshed to smithereenes. Pros.. the weight is perfect, and the wood handle does not get hot. It does press evenly, and does not squish everything flat. Cons.. I let it set on my ceramic top burner at the same temp and length of time as my brand new ordered at the same time, Lodge cast iron grill pan. It did not get even close to hot enought to leave a single line on the bread😲. Part of my reason for getting it was to be able to sorta cheat and grill both sides of the sandwich at once. The worst part of it.. and this is totally my fault.. I must not have paid emough attention to sizes.. it only fits sideways in the grill pan. It is larger than the skillet otherwise. So you need to grill your sandwich sideways in the direction that leaves you using your spatula in the opposite direction of the “grates/ridges” of the skillet. This is not fun. So.. it works perfect as a press, has just the right amount of weight to it, and if all you want is a flat press that does not leave grill marks on your food, and are planning on using it with a larger skillet than the lodge grill skillet sold here on Amazon.. you’ll love it. If you are planning on using it on a grill... not sure if the handle is built for that. ... show more

  • Smasher
I absolutely love this item. It does exactly what I need it to do, smash the burgers. The weight and size makes my cooking capacity very easy. It makes it easy to cook the meat evenly regardless of its thickness.

  • The best out there
We got this really because of the brand name, and it was on heavy sale for some reason. So glad we did! I took comparison photos with the one that came with a grill accessory kit (and was a fine press), but I cant figure out how to share. This is *much* larger than the standard. And when they say it weighs 2.1 pounds, that may not sound like a lot but trust me, this is the one you want! The handle is just higher quality. The botton has grill marks, which are nice, but you realize using it that the “empty” grooves provide an even airflow to it as well. Lastly, and this to me was genius, the edges are raised, meaning a higher portion of that 2.1 pounds is distributed along the edges of this, which may not sounds like a big deal but it is. No wobble, can handle oddly shaped items, wont slide like a “plain” flat press. This famous brand earns its stripes (pun intended) once again. ... show more

  • All The Better To Mess Up My Kitchen With, My Dear.
I bought a griddle for those imaginary Sunday morning family breakfasts. My husband wanted bacon, which you can make on a non-stick griddle. However, he told me that his father used to make the world's most magical bacon by filling a cast-iron pan with bacon and laying another piece of cast-iron upon that bacon, effectively making a cast-iron sandwich. I should tell you, the only thing better than a man who wants you to make him a sandwich is a man who wants you to wash an old, bacon-fat-covered cast-iron sandwich of sadness. But I'm getting ahead of myself. "Why not just wrap a brick in aluminum foil?" I asked, even though I wanted to ask, "Why not use this griddle I just bought?" "Oh no," he answered from that beautiful face that I want to punch sometimes, "It has to be this piece of iron with a handle." So, it's a piece of iron with a handle. I guess that's worth $10 ($13? $15? I suppose I should be grateful it wasn't $72 in craft supplies). It's no more monstrous to clean than any other piece of cast iron that was slathered in bacon fat like butter on toast. I'm surprised the letters aren't harder to clean. I like Cuisineart, too. I feel like their products hearken back to an age of old-timey insanity where you cooked things by crushing them under a brick, but without all the danger, lack of scientific knowledge, and people living to the ripe old age of "died in childbirth." ... show more

  • Get it get it!!!
My toaster broke and I decided to get this instead of a new toaster. I do not regret it. Make my toast/sandwiches taste so much better.
