  • This is a very nice and functional scale
I recently started a quest to lose some weight and as part of that wanted to start logging all my food in an app. After some research I decided to give this one a try. I have always been happy with Oxo products and this is no exception. It is a good sized scale and I can still read the display even with a full sized plate sitting on it. I like that it is easy to zero and easy to switch between pounds, ounces, and grams. I also like that the output keeps displaying for plenty of time to make entries in my app. It looks nice, has a good range and seems durable. It's not cheap but I believe that it is worth the price. ... show more

  • Accurate scale, easy to use, awesome display!
It’s stainless steel. I wish it could be a different color. So McDonald’s. I prefer bright, cheery, happy stuff. But my options were black and stainless, so okay, fine, stainless it is. It’s a really good scale. I tested it for accuracy with weights. I got the one that holds extra weight because I want to put heavy bowls on it sometimes and fill them with flour or meat. I love that it can handle that. It is simple to use and easily toggles between metric and regular weights. It holds the weight on the screen nicely so you get time to write it down if you need to do that. It’s so easy to use that I tossed the explanation. I don’t have to re-read it. But the BEST part is the little pull-out display thingie. I LOVE THAT THING. No contortions required to check the weight. No button to lock. No nothing. I can just SEE the flippin thing. Alleluia. Oxo is generally reliable but they really knocked it out of the park here. (Would it kill them to offer one that is a less depressing color?) ... show more

  • By far the highest quality scale I have ever had
This has immediately tuned into my favorite scale I’ve ever used. I wasn’t aware that there could be such large differences between kitchen scales, and have used a cheap one for a long time. I finally decided to get a new one though after seeing this one recommended in a baking book for its pull out display ability when measuring large bowls. Immediately the build and heft of the scale out of the box felt very high quality. It doesn’t feel cheap like my previous scale. I really like how large the weighing surface is, and the stainless steel looks really nice. The extending display is super amazing to have when I need it, and has really nice magnets to hold it in the proper place when not being used. The display is big and readable, and very bright as well. There are some other functionalities and thoughtful design touches that this scale has that make it much nicer than my other scale as well, as OXO is known for. The modes of weighing are really versatile and simple, you can set it to show pounds and ounces or just ounces, or kilograms and grams or just grams, which is really nice to use depending on how the recipe phrases weights without having to do any math in your head (very easy for grams I know, but still). Overall, I love this scale and if you don’t have a kitchen scale, definitely get this one over any others. If you have a kitchen scale that’s getting old or not working the best, or you just want a nice looking upgrade, this scale will give you everything you’re looking for as well. ... show more

  • Good buy way better than the smaller one
Works great, face pulls out plenty far enough. Well made and weighs accurately and quickly

  • Love the scale
Very simple to use. Variable weight units available. The pullout display is very handy as it allows using large bowls. Good quality, construction, and easy to clean.

  • High-quality fast scale
I purchased this scale to replace a Cuisinart food scale that failed and would no longer turn on. The pull-out display is the major feature differentiator that sets this scale apart and solves a problem I had with my last scale -- not being able to read the display due to a large bowl. The display is held in-place by two small magnets, and pulls in and out easily though I would like if the magnets were slightly stronger. A cable keeps the display connected to the scale unit and the display moves around freely while tethered by this cable. The scale does a "3-2-1" countdown when you first power it on, but once it's ready this scale is much faster than my previous scale. Gram measurements are updated near-instantaneously, whereas a delay with my old scale had me pause for a second before adding ingredients. Now I can stream water into a bowl and see the numbers tick up in realtime. I didn't expect this, and it's a nice upgrade. The top plate is removable, but it feels wrong, like you shouldn't be pulling so hard and you're going to break a clip or cause bending of the level platform. It can be surface washed in this way. I liked that my old Cuisinart had a removable metal cover plate, and THAT could be removed, dishwashed, etc. In ths case of this OXO, the entire scale bed is removed. The whole scale is also larger than my previous, which could be bad (it takes up more space in my drawer) but sometimes is good (the platform is large enough to handle larger amounts or meat, dough, etc without needing a separate plate). In summary, this scale is expensive for what it is, but the features I mention make it feel like it's enough of a quality of life improvement that anyone who uses a food scale for a lot of their cooking, this is worth the splurge. ... show more

  • Excellent product
This is the second OXO scale I've bought. The first one stopped working after about eight years, which is a pretty good lifetime. I like the negative weight measurements because it's good for measuring things like how much peanut butter I've removed from the jar, which is much easier than weighing how much peanut butter is added on a piece of bread. (Not all OXO scales have the negative weight display like this one). One feature the new model has that I really like is a "low battery" indicator. On the older unit, there was no warning when the battery was depleted and the unit just stopped functioning, which was awkward when the battery died in the middle of the process of measuring out something. ... show more
