These allow smoother strokes with not so much goopy-ness, so less prone to smearing by the brush itself. Obviously you have to be mindful of what paper or other surface you’re applying the color to, but my observation has more to do with brush quality and quality of the liquid color - neither too sheer nor too opaque, applies where I want it to rather than where it feels like going, and I haven’t gotten the bubbles in the liquid on the brush that are so difficult to get rid of without wasting paint. Also, super affordable so I don’t feel like I have to reserve them for when I’ve got my final work in mind- I can play around some and not run out of color on samples and tests and scribbles and ideas. Nice price for those of us who use these types of pens a lot and have to watch our nickels.

And if you catch them while they're still wet, you can also blend between colors, which is nice. They're not quite as insta-drying as some acrylics can be (the result of additives to make a wet ink out of acrylic paint). Just that much of open drying time can be used for a quick blend, though the speed needed may take some practice. Also: being water-based, there will always be something that can remove the markers; it's just that some removers (acetone, mineral spirits, etc) may also destroy the material you're trying to clean. So choose wisely, if there's any question as to whether you may want to remove the ink in the future.

I like these paint marker pens overall! The 24 colors provide a great variety, and the coverage is solid. One thing to note is that it takes a minute for the ink to dry, which can be both a good and bad thing. On the plus side, you can fix a mistake before it sets, but on the downside, it’s easy to accidentally smudge it if you're not careful. Once dry, though, the ink is permanent and stays put perfectly. The nib is a bit thicker than I expected, so keep that in mind. I’ve included a picture of a couple of colors I tested on the back of the box for reference. Overall, I’m happy with them!

This nice set of acrylic paint markers works well for the tiny rock doodles I'm starting with--for larger rocks I will probably get little bottles of acrylic paint and use brushes, but to start out, and for tiny doodles, I wanted the stability of markers. The set includes a good assortment of colors, and the dual tips are nice. Both tips control the paint well, but are "juicy" enough--can't paint with markers that are dried out, or that allow the paint to drip or splatter. I can recommend for tiny rock doodles, and I'm sure they will be just as effective and easy to use on suitable paper. I am enjoying this set of acrylic paint markers!
