After a lot of looking, I ordered one of these chairs to see if I found it acceptable. Wanting to stain it myself, I ordered the unfinished one. It had been daunting to read reviews of receiving other chairs with pieces broken, missing, or with cracks and scars. I was happily surprised when I opened the box and examined each piece. They were all beautiful, relatively smooth, with no knots or cracks at all. On close examination I saw that a couple of more minor pieces were made of two pieces of wood joined together, but the joining was almost completely invisible. So far, I have further sanded and put one coat of stain on all the pieces. Today the second coat of stain goes on. Since I haven't put the chair together yet I can't speak to its sturdiness or comfort, but I am so happy at this point that I ordered another chair. I was impressed that the day after I received the chair I got an email from the company urging me to contact them if I found anything not to my satisfaction. I don't write many reviews, but I really recommend this chair and this company which seems to have good customer service. When I finish putting them together I expect to have them for years of enjoyment at a price I feel great about. ... show more

    • Sturdy but it takes some time to assemble
It seems it is a pretty sturdy chair. However I didn’t think that it wasn’t so easy to assemble the chairs. Although it came with some good instructions it took quite some time to put them together. But you get what you pay for it. They’re are very pretty, though.

Set of 2 chairs were delivered late, and only came with 1 chair… ordered a replacement and that’s ALSO delayed now. Let’s see if I at least get the 2 chairs instead of 1 this time

Not much to dislike. Time will tell regarding sturdiness. But it seems solid. Will probably add a coat of poly yet. Update. Just finished the second chair. Stained and ready to go. Unfortunately, the wood on the chair slats looked a bit sketchy, and low and behold a chair slat cracked diagonally straight through when I got up from the chair. I’ll try to repair it, even if I have to buy replacement wood at the home center. Won’t buy these again! ... show more
