  • Returned for wrong size, but now own the same product
Size: X-Large Color: Verde/Black
I returned this item as it was the wrong size (XL), but I later purchased another pair of Outdoor Research gaiters and I love them.

  • Worth every dollar!
Size: Large Color: Black
Best purchase ever! I have mid-calf Sorel boots. They're warm, but unless I also had on snow pants, the snow got in from top when I walked - No More!! Since this purchase, my legs are warm & dry: wearing jeans or running pants, while out in sleet &/or deep snow. Durable material, great quality, highly recommend. ... show more

  • One & done..
Size: XL (US Men's 10-13) M Color: Black
Couldn’t get more than one winter season out of these unfortunately. They decided to stop shedding water and snow around the 1 month mark. And that was from standing in the parking lot working at my local ski resort. Looks like a super cheap inner lining was at fault for that. Metal cable reinforced rubber straps would have made those last longer too. The straps gave out shortly after the waterproof lining did. ... show more

  • Gaiters
Size: Large Color: Black
The gaitors work quite well and are easy to get into and out of. However, why they didn't use a velcro strap on top as they did on the bottom of the gaitors, beats me. Instead, they used a very awkward buckle that I'm going to replace with a velcro strap. That alone is the only problem I have with the gaitors. As for durability, southern Michigan only now has 2 to 3 week winters and I've only used them a dozen times. I'll know better after several years of use. ... show more

  • Buy these with confidence.
Size: Large Color: Black
I bought these for snowshoeing and they work exactly like they should. I was skeptical of the attached/non-replaceable underfoot straps but they seemed quite durable. Time will tell. I can only imagine that using them for hiking on rocks/rough ground would potentially wear the strap out much quicker than snowshoeing would. I was also concerned about the strap buckles rubbing against the snowshoe straps but they are quite unobtrusive. The design of these gaiters makes them easy to get in and out of and they seal nicely around the footwear. The upper straps/buckles hold shut securely and are also unobtrusive. You essentially forget that you have them on - which is the way it should be. A satisfying purchase. In regards to size - I had purchased a medium pair for my wife and a large pair for me based upon the manufacturer's size chart which is based solely on shoe size. It turns out that the mediums fit me (size 11 shoe) and the larges fit my wife (size 9 shoe) due to her 16" calves. They mediums will not fit someone with 16" calves. They should really size them by calf size and not just shoe size. ... show more

  • durable
Size: XL (US Men's 10-13) M Color: Black
I use these doing trail building and maintenance in fairly rough undergrowth. They have stood up well to briers, have been good in wet underbrush and snow, and while they don't look new anymore, they are sound and not functionally impaired in any way. They keep me dry and keep dirt out of my boots when I'm benching trails. I'm quite happy with them. Update: After almost a year and a half I ordered a second pair of these gaiters for only two reasons. First, they were available for a very attractive price that I thought I might not see again, and second, my first pair was a bit larger than I needed. I am still using the first pair three to five days a week for three to five hours each day. They have withstood rough conditions very well and are still as functional as new. I spray them with permethrin. I can't guarantee that the gaiters and the insecticide have protected me, but the only times I have found ticks on myself this summer have been when not wearing the gaiters. ... show more

  • Saved my toes from Frostbites
Size: Large Color: Black
on day in late fall, I underestimated the snow conditions on Adirondacks trail and ventured out to beg two remote peaks in just ankle length water proof shoes that were made for trail running. Fortunately I put these gaiters just for the sole purpose of saving my pants from Adirondack mud. these gaiters they fit well and covered just below the knee. As expected there wasn't any snow till 3 mile. but soon as we climbed higher we were hiking in 1 foot of snow in lower elevation and soon we were breaking the trail in knee deep snow. at a point my feet started getting cold but I kept climbing to keep them warm. That day I hiked in knee deep snow for more than 7 hours. I must acknowledge that with out this gaiter there was now way to come back form such trail without get frostbite. if you hike a lot in snow conditions you cannot be wrong in choosing these gaiters. ... show more
