Arlington 8141DBL-1 Siding Mounting Kits with Built-in Box, For 4-INCH SIDING, 1/2" Lap Double, provides for a smooth, vertical mounting of light fixtures on all siding types including T-111, HardiePlank Lap Siding, and flat surfaces. You may find the siding mounting block is very easy to install, whether you have siding up or not. For a more complete job, you may also paint the fixture to finish with your desired colors. The siding mounting block is made in the USA, with UV rated plastic for long outdoor lifeas well as being UL listed. With the Arlington Siding Mounting Block you will receive a NM connector and 4 screws, to ensure you have enough supplies to complete your projects.

As you're undoubtedly learning, if you need a double-sized or even triple-sized platform, it's not as simple as a trip to the major hardware retailers as they don't carry them. I even tried the smaller local guys as well as Ace to no avail. My advice is if you need a double-sized mounting platform, go with this item with the built in electrical box. You will probably encounter electrical box fitment problems if you go with another type of platform that allows you to reuse your original electrical box, and that won't be the only problem or even the largest problem you will face. I tried this product first: [...] and not only did my electrical box not fit properly into the empty center hole (circumference of the platform hole was considerably too large), the box does not lay flat but rather canted as it mounts to your siding which is canted. This fact has the considerable potential to make it difficult to mount your lighting fixture. Regardless of your light fixture's mounting hardware, your electrical box will be at an angle and you will want your light fixture to mount flush with the platform. With this product, you will have no such issues. I also found it to be made much better than other similar items. The plastic is solid and much more stout than the foam-like platforms I had read about and experienced firsthand. Strangely enough, these platforms were less expensive than the more cheaply made examples. Regardless, I had this platform installed on my siding and my light fixture attached to this platform in about 10 minutes. I could have used the first product that I purchased but it would have taken considerably longer to install. As my particular application called for 2 of these, it was much easier to go with this item and avoid all the "fine tuning." If I had any complaint whatsoever it would be that this item lacks the wood-like grain of my other (single-sized) exterior platforms, but it makes up for it with ease of installation and build quality. You literally punch out whatever holes you need from 3 central options for your wiring and perhaps for your light mounting hardware, mount the platform to your siding with 2 screws (which are included and are quite beefy; I ended up reusing my old screws) in any number of given positions within the built-in electrical box, mount your lighting fixture bracket to the box (screws are also included and will thread themselves into the given holes), make your electrical connections, and mount your light. You *may* want to caulk around the area where your wiring comes out of your siding as it is recommended in the instructions, but my lights are located on a covered porch area so this wasn't a concern for me. I also would not be worried about whether you need a 1/2 or 5/8 application. As long as you have 5" siding, these platforms should do the trick. It might sound somewhat complicated, but it isn't. I've read reviews for other platforms and some guys seem to be satisfied overall with their purchases, but they had to do considerably more work to get everything looking well. After seeing these here I wondered “where have these been” when I needed them. I have an aluminum sided house and we recently decided to repaint. The light fixtures that were on the house were installed with screws into the existing siding. They always hung at an angle, and looked really crappy. They were uneven and they were very loose. When I discovered this product I immediately ordered them up. They painted very easily using regular exterior paint, installed very very easily through the existing siding, and The light fixtures that I have installed, which are very heavy, fit perfectly, level, and are very solid. I haven't had the time to install it due to the fact that I have to alter the mount to fit my siding. The mount is made well and seemed the closest fit, colour and shape I required. It seems sturdy and NOT some flimsy cheap plastic. To those who think this mount should fit their siding out of the box without measuring, are out to lunch! Remember, there are different sizes, profiles and types of siding. Don't give it 1 or 2 stars because you just didn't check... you might as well just go make your own mount with popsicle sticks and duct tape! I gave it 4 stars because I tried a Hail Mary and hoped it would fit, all the while knowing I most likely had to cut it up. If it had fit out of the box, it would have been a miracle and 5 stars all day long. ... show more

Excellent product. I searched the Internet for siding fixture blocks that work with 5" lap siding. I'm convinced only custom blocks may exist and hard to find. The good news is this block is extremely easy to alter to work and looks great. If you like the look.. All items available on Amazon Lights -Vianis. Mine are dusk till dawn but they have many options and styles. Well made and beautiful. Bulbs-Volxon led Edison bulbs. Really accentuate the look I wanted. They are bright and coupled with the glass cut on the fixture, give out a small, soft prism effect. Gorgeous Highly recommend all 3. Great product Arlington ... show more

After looking for mounting solutions locally to fit aluminum siding and only finding options that didn't even come close to fitting, I came across these. They fit extremely well with only a very minimal spot on each side to caulk.

My mounting kit came open box, it’s packaged in that plastic pack of course. It had a couple scratches but i didn’t want to send back, rain was coming and I had to get my light back up. At least the hardware was all there and it didn’t seem like it was already attached to a house somewhere. I suppose there are other things you can do to mount a light to lap siding but this looked pretty painless and easy, and it was pretty easy. It says it’s paintable, so if it fades terrible I’ll paint it up. I gave it 3 star because it’s pricey for what it is, for ease and function I’d give it a 5. ... show more

I needed to mount a new outdoor light fixture on my garage. The old fixture was simply screwed into an electrical box behind the siding, and it was exposed to the elements. This mounting kit solved it all; a durable, flat, and beautiful bracket that fit perfectly over the electrical box, concealing it and the hacked-up siding around it. I mounted it directly to the electrical box, ran wiring through one of the cut-outs, and attached the light fixture. Installation took maybe 10 minutes. You must caulk around it (although I wouldn't caulk the bottom as there is a weep hole). It looks like it was made for my garage. ... show more
