When I found myself scrambling to pack those last-minute items from my apartment, this bag came to the rescue. Its foldable design allowed me to store it easily when not in use and whip it out whenever I needed it. The size was just right, accommodating all the odds and ends that I needed to transport. The durability of the Outdoor Products Deluxe Duffle is impressive. I stuffed it to the brim, and not once did I worry about the seams giving way. The material feels sturdy, providing confidence that my belongings were secure throughout the entire moving process. However, the only aspect I wish could be improved is the comfort of the straps. As I carried the bag for extended periods, I noticed the straps could benefit from additional padding. While they got the job done, a bit more cushioning would have made a world of difference, especially when lugging a heavy load. Despite this minor drawback, I am still highly satisfied with my purchase. I know it's just a duffel bag. But it is a well constructed duffel bag. I don't understand how the world is full of junkie duffel bags. How can duffel bag CEOs sleep at night knowing how junkie their product is? This duffel bag is different, because it doesn't suck.

I purchased this duffle to take on a six day whitewater rafting trip. It worked GREAT to fit inside the dry bags provided by the rafting company, and held everything I needed. I even flew with it jam-packed with my belongings. The only down side is that there are no separate compartments like inside or outside zipper pockets to separate things.     • Good protective cover for a backpack
I bought this duffel for a specific purpose -- to protect my precious 35L hiking backpack during air travel (I went with a size Large and had some room to spare). I went on a backpack trip that had a few flights where I'd need to check my backpack as baggage. Backpacks often get mangled on airplanes, in particular on the baggage carousel which snag on and rip up your pack's straps. Many people cover their backpack with a simple rain cover, but a rain cover only covers the rear of the pack, leaving the straps exposed. And rain covers can fall off. So, I wanted something a little more protective, but I didn't want it to be heavy (since I was backpacking and wanted to travel as lightly as possible) and I didn't want to pay $70 for some of the fancier backpack duffels. Enter the Outdoor Products Deluxe Duffle. This duffle is no-frills, extremely light, and cheaper than some of the heavy duty bags. True, this bag is probably not ideal for your round-the-world trek; it probably will get torn up eventually if you haul it through tough conditions. But for my specialized purpose, it's a good compromise between lightness, durability and cost. Yes, the material is thin, like a lightweight golf windbreaker. And the straps could probably tear off if you try to lug around serious weight. Another complaint is that the zippers are rather cheap and I can imagine the zipper lining tearing. So if you want something tougher, pay a little more and upgrade to their better model, the Utility model which is twice as expensive, twice as heavy, but will surely last longer. Again, I wanted to save a pound of weight so I got this cheaper Deluxe model. So, I just treat it gingerly and don't manhandle it. I don't expect this bag to last forever, and I use it just for its specialized purpose, and for me that makes it a good buy. ... show more

Used the to bring some extra large items on an airplane. Very roomy, but not particularly heavy-duty. Small hole in a seam after the first trip. I suspect I won't get many uses out of it, but if I need to transport something large again it should do the trick.

I just purchased this duffel to hold my tent, ground cloth, rope, & stakes (the stuff sack it came with was a too small for all that). At first use, this seems like a decent bag. It holds everything I mentioned with room to spare. I ordered the medium duffel and am using it for a 2 person tent. The only thing about this bag is that there is no loop on the end as some of the pictures indicate. this isn't a big deal for me. The toiletry bag storage sack was a nice touch. I've had several of these before and they have lasted fairly well, although eventually they break at the seams or there is a problem with the zipper. I like them because they are light weight so I can easily stuff them out of the way when I'm not storing stuff in them.
