LOVE THEM!! Perfect. They are a bit deep for your average house cat, but if you’re putting out enough food for several stays, you want them to be deeper. Wider than normal, would only loose the warmth quicker. They’re keeping both food & water from freezing. I highly recommend them.

I'm feeding a feral cat in the Blue Ridge Mountains where we get very cold weather and snow. Works well so far. Both bowls can be removed from the unit and cleaned individually, a very convenient feature. Great price,would recommend.

I don't know what type of cats y'all are feeding. These might be a good size for a lynx or small panther. Seriously, these are bigger than most dog bowls and are easily more than large enough to feed a Golden Retriever or other similar size dog. The extra size is fine for water, but just ridiculous for food. I am going to try filling one bowl with something inert, like sand or gravel, which will act as a heat-sink and into which I can place a bowl appropriately sized for a house cat. The bowls themselves are also really flimsy, not even as substantial as those cheap imported stainless pet bowls you can find at that big national discount chain. While the heating element appears to work fine (I had no major temperature difference between bowls), the overall build quality is extremely disappointing. 20231023 Update: even at 14ºF ambient outdoor temperature, this unit keeps the water too warm (~90-100ºF) for animals to want to drink. ... show more

I was very excited to find this item as I feed several colonies outside, and in the winter time, the food freezes very quickly. Unfortunately, none of the cats that I feed will go near these because the bowls are way too deep. For those of you who are familiar with cats they do not like to stick their heads into a deep bowl. Since the product is now used, I cannot return them. They’re useless to me as I only have outdoor cats to feed. Fortunately, I don’t have dogs that live outside.
